MCA #1- Friday night, and probably later

This was really Annie and Summer's party, that just so happened to take place in Rey's stupidly giant apartment. Still, even while she'd been told a lot of people might be coming, Rey was a little concerned no one actually would, and then she'd have to figure out what to do with just... a ridiculous amount of alcohol and so many inflatable reindeer. And packages for this thing had been showing up daily for a week, including as late as this afternoon, and after all of this, people had better show up.

There were so many Christmas lights around the place that the apartment lights weren't even on, Summer's Jello shots were very much on display, and while there was mistletoe hanging from the ceiling, it wouldn't force you to kiss anyone. (No, no, that's the alcohol's job.) It was jolly as hell up in here, and honestly loud enough that even if you decided to skip the party you'd probably have some idea of how it went.

Also Tino showed up like ten minutes early and was just kind of hanging around.

Kitty had told Allie about the party, so after she'd made her usual pass around the island, she stopped by.

Looking around she realized that at some point she was probably going to have to buy a holiday sweater to brighten up her usual all black attire.

"You made it!" Kitty greeted her. "And you may get glittered."

Allie shuddered. "Can't they wait till I can at least shower it off? There's eggnog in the water pipes!"

Kitty paused, and said, "I wonder if anyone would actually get drunk enough to try it tonight."

"Not me," said the vampire that would sadly remain perfectly sober all night. "Can you imagine. Glittery and sticky?"

"That sounds more like the morning after a strip club," Kitty admitted. "Not that there's anything wrong with that."

Allie had seen some things in her dealings with the vampire princes. "Nope, you do what you have to do. So besides all the holiday stuff, what else have you been up to?"

"Not much. Turning into things at the island's whims," she said. "How about you?"

"I have so far managed to avoid that," Allie said gratefully. "I'm not sure if I'm lucky or if it just means the island is going to get me in a huge elaborate way one day to make up for it."

"Oh I'm sure it's only a matter of time." Allie was a realist after all. "I'm sure one morning I'll wake up as a guy or a four year old."

"Some were better then others." But still, she grinned, "Are there still weeks when everyone gets hot and bothered?"

"Would you like a Santa hat or to be shot with the glitter cannon?" Annie asked in greeting, like those were the only available options.

"A hat please," Allie said quickly. "I'll pick up enough glitter just by existing."

"Truth." Annie was pretty covered in the stuff herself. She handed over a Santa hat, adding, "I don't think we've met - I'm Annie."

"Allie," Allie replied, setting the hat on her head. "I live up in number six. I just got back to the island last month.

"I'm in nine, neighbor," Annie said with a smile. "And welcome back. I only got here two months ago."

"Really? What brought you to the island?" she asked. "The first time I came here, I just crossed the causeway then got stuck here for few years."

"Work," Annie answered easily. "I was supposed to be your resident superhero, but. You know."

If Allie had been here before, then she probably already knew how there was absolutely no shortage of those types around.

"But I like it here, so I stuck around."

"So you're one of those." Allie couldn't help but smile. "There's always been a bunch of them on the island. Technically I'm not a superhero, but vampire speed and strength are useful to have in a fight."

"Vampire?" And now Annie was, sorry, peering a little closer at Allie. "Congratulations, I think you're the first one I've met."

No, she actually worked for one and had no idea.

"I think Eric and I are the only ones on the island right now," she said. "A few years ago there was this weird one who worked at the clinic, but I think she's gone."

"Eric like Eric who owns the Devil's Nest?" Annie checked, a little alarmed. "Wait, he's a vampire?"

Annie was really dense, honestly. The place was stocked with TruBlood and she knew he was a thousand years old. Should have connected those dots to his lack of tan, girl.

"Yup. Eric, my boss." Allie shrugged a shoulder and pushed her hair back. "He's a thousand-year-old Viking and incredibly powerful. He was nice enough to give me a job when I first came to the island. His theory was that he didn't want a baby vamp eating the people on the island and drawing attention. When I came back last month he let me pick up a shift."

He also helped her fence a small fortune in gemstones, but that wasn't that important.
