The Millennium Falcon- Monday

Rey had decided, at least for now, to leave the lightsaber alone. She'd spent a lot of time thinking about it, and if pressed for the reason, she'd probably have to settle on something like wanting to do it right. She was skilled at building machinery, taking the better parts of broken things and reforming them into something new, but this was an ancient weapon with too much history and if she got something wrong, she didn't know that she could easily fix it. She wasn't even sure whether the crystal inside was usable or not. At some point she would need it again, if she was going to be helping the Resistance, and she was sure she hadn't seen the last of Kylo, but if she had some time until then, she knew she should take it.

Besides, she was in possession of books that might actually tell her what to do, for the lightsaber and… all of it. Sure, they were written in ancient languages that she couldn't read, but they also just so happened to have someone here who could help with that.

"Don't worry, Miss Rey," C-3PO said, returning to the dejarik table, where she was poring over the book like she might accidentally understand it if she looked at it closely enough. "I dealt with those silly droids, they won't bother us further. Now where were we?"

Rey turned the book towards him, her finger marking the spot where she had stopped. "This passage here, Threepio."

"Ah, yes. I must say, these old Jedi texts are extremely ancient. The languages are… unusual, to say the least."

Rey frowned, and wondered how Luke had managed to read them. ...Had he managed to read them? When was the last time someone had?

"Can you read it?" she asked, handing him the book. What if there had been such a deal made over these books, and their secrets had already been lost generations ago anyway?

"To a degree. I wouldn't rely on this translation for diplomatic purposes, but it seems to say something like, 'The Force is the light, the Force is the dark. The Jedi choose light, for all that it reveals.'"

"Ah." Rey considered that, and smiled. "You know, I like that. Seems like a lovely place to begin."

[Taken from Poe Dameron #28, and this is the last canon I have for now, I swear.]
