Tah'Nuhna- Sunday morning FT
Rey was running late. She'd had to get them all back to Tah'Nuhna, and then she'd lost track of time helping to unload supplies, and by now she was in a rush to get packed up so she didn't miss her portal. And when she saw Threepio standing outside the door to the tiny room that served as her quarters here, a box at his feet, she was a little concerned at how much later she was going to be now.
"Mistress Rey! I've been waiting for you," Threepio stated.
"I figured," she said as she stepped past him to open the door. "What is it, Threepio?"
"I thought you would like to know that I have completed the translation tool you had requested."
She stopped, and looked from him to the box, her eyes wide. "You finished already? That's amazing!"
Rey had access to ancient texts that were supposedly all that were left of the Jedi now, and they were full of symbols she couldn't read. Threepio had been working on a translation of the books themselves, but that would take too long for the both of them, so she'd asked if he could at least work out something Iike an alphabet. She'd taught herself to read and then several languages after that, she could figure this out with a little guidance. It hadn't been that long here, though- he'd only been working on it for a couple weeks, around other things he needed to do.
"Oh! Well, it wasn't any trouble. I simply had to-"
And that was what she'd been afraid of. "I appreciate it, and I promise I'll listen later, but I'm in a bit of a hurry right now," she told him. "Thank you so much."
Threepio ducked his head forward, which might have looked a little like he was sharing a secret. "It was my pleasure," he said, and left her alone at that, heading back in the direction from which she'd come, his servomotors whirring with each step.
This was terrific, and Rey's excitement over finally getting to look into these was suddenly undercut by the realization that she had to figure out a way to travel with these, too.
