Rey didn't think about her birthday. She knew when it was, but it was just a marker of time that she noted and moved on from. This was the first year she'd ever even told anyone when it was.

Which was why she awoke to a small heart attack when someone called right around two am, thinking something terrible had happened. In actuality, the difference in time/days meant that while Finn got the day right, he slightly misjudged the time. But that was fine- they talked for a good while and then he passed the call on to the next person who wanted to say hi to her, and then the next, and so on. It had barely anything to do with the Resistance, but they talked about normal things, which was something she didn't get to do much and didn't know she could do much. She hadn't really figured out where she fit in the Resistance even nearly a year into it her time, but she came away from the call feeling maybe for the first time that she had a place in it somewhere.

All in all she ended up talking for an hour in the middle of the night to her friends, and it was going to be impossible to get back to sleep afterwards, and that was fine with her.
