Anoat- Sunday

Rey had intended to go home for a weekend, talk to Leia, get copious Finn hugs, and return on Monday feeling better. And all of those things would happen, it was just that after Friday's talk with Anakin, the talk with Leia got bigger, because Rey told her everything. She'd never told her that Kanan had left, or who her new teacher in Fandom was, because she didn't know how Leia felt about her father and she didn't want to add more for her to deal with on top of everything else.

Leia, of course, handled it well. She always did. If there was going to be any worse of a reaction, she definitely wasn't going to let/make Rey see that.

"You're not going to tell me not to go back?" Rey had asked, not realizing until then that she'd been worried about that.

"I trust your judgment," Leia had said. She didn't really let Rey check in either further than that, either, and Rey didn't push.

Otherwise it had been a normal trip. Rey helped out around base, and trained with Leia when she was available. Currently Rey was in a handstand and levitating the crates full of supplies around her. All easy enough. And then Leia said, "One hand now."

Rey paused, and did what she did in yoga, carefully figuring out how she'd have to shift her weight to even do that.

"You're thinking too hard," Leia told her.

"Because I don't want to fall," Rey said.

"You know what you're doing. You won't fall."

"I do not know what I'm doing."

"If you had to do it, you would. Which means you can when you choose to. You can control everything your body is doing right now."

This sounded like a good way to fall on her head, but Rey didn't allow herself to actually say that. After all, she had done more than this in the moment, she just never figured out how she did it. So she tried to tamp down on that part of her that worried about that, and lifted her right hand off the ground, just trusting that she wasn't about to get a concussion.

She didn't. She didn't even have to shift her hand at all to make this work better. She stayed like that for a while, neither of them saying anything, and then Rey pushed herself up on her one hand until she was on the ball of her hand, and then, because that was not comfortable for her hand, and then further, till she was standing upside down on the tips of her fingers like she didn't weigh anything at all, and she wondered what would happen if she took her hand off the ground entirely.

So she did, and she didn't fall, just stayed suspended an arm's length off the ground with the equipment around her.

Rey dropped her legs down to stand again, letting the crates fall gently. "How did I do that?" she asked, grinning.

"Sometimes you don't need to know how. You just have to know you can do it," Leia said, smiling back.

A knock came at the open door, and they looked over to see Connix, seemingly just passing by to say, "Sorry. General, the Falcon's back."

Rey looked over at Leia before she could stop herself. She hadn't see Finn, Poe or Chewie this whole trip yet, and she didn't want to come off like an excited seven-year-old but she probably did.

"Go. We'll end on that note today," Leia said.

"Thank you," Rey said, and went off to find her friends.
