MCA #1- Saturday morning

Rey had mostly expected that she'd end up staying on the Falcon most of the weekend, which was exactly what happened last night. There was just something nice about sleeping in the place that felt most like home in the town where she actually lived. But this morning, Poe had wanted to see the setup she had going on, and she hadn't actually had time to check in with Leia alone after yesterday, so she brought them over.

You know. To her unnecessarily giant apartment that had very little furniture out for display.

"Okay," said Finn, the one person who'd seen this place before, as he looked around the living room. "Do you actually live here?"

"I don't need a lot of stuff," Rey shrugged. "And I don't really have people over."

More people had seen this place in the last week than the entire last year.

"Doesn't she just sort of live here anyway?" Poe reminded him. His words!

"I do actually live here," Rey insisted. "Mostly."

"You have a room full of stuff," Finn said. "Stuff that could be in here."

"Stuff that can get moved around if needed, which it never is," Rey said.

"There's a room full of stuff?" Poe said.

"Come see the room full of stuff," Finn said, starting down the hall towards it. He didn't know which room it was. But he'd heard about it.

Leia quietly took a seat on one of the diner stools around the unused bar area, failing at not looking amused.

Rey looked plaintively at her as the boys left for the other room.

Help me, space mom, you're my only hope.

"I'm no help," Leia told her. "This is fun for me."

Rey sighed and followed the boys, who had found the... storage room? There was less in there than there had been a week ago, thanks to Silver, but there was still a lot of randomness.

"Where'd you even get all this?" Poe asked, picking up a globe.

[thatwaslucky]

"A few months ago the island moved to where these talking animals gave you stuff, or you got recipes to build things that you could sell," Rey explained. "I ran out of time to get rid of everything before the island moved again."

Poe stared at her, frowning.

"What?" she said with a shrug. "It happened."

"Did you say you got a recipe to build it?" Finn frowned.

[thatwaslucky]

"Yeah, you uh, stood at a tree trunk and built it with the ingredients in your pockets."

Okay, that sounded... not real.

"Right," Finn said, and nodded towards a rattan sofa. "That looks like people can sit on it."

"On it," Poe said, going to one end to pick it up.

"This is really not necessary," Rey insisted, following them as they started carrying it out.

Besides, she could just float it out herself?

Maybe if Rey casually used her powers more, they would have naturally jumped to that! But they didn't. Luckily for them this place was too damn big to worry about much but the doorway.

"I guess we can put this anywhere, since it's a giant empty room and all," Finn said, lowering his end of the sofa.

"Are you done now?" Rey said, knowing the answer and taking a seat on the stool next to Leia.

Finn looked at Poe, who looked at him and shrugged.

"Don't know yet," Finn said, starting back towards the other room with Poe.

"You could stop them if you wanted to, you know," Leia pointed out.

Rey shrugged, not too worried. "It's probably time," she admitted. There was still plenty of space in here to keep weirdly empty.

And since the guys were occupied, she could lower her voice and say, "I wanted to see how you were doing."

"You don't need to worry about me," Leia assured her.

[thatwaslucky]

Yeah, but she did. And this really had been Rey's fault.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner," she said. "I know that had to be hard."

There maybe should have been a little pang of guilt at that, considering Leia was, in fact, lying by omission right back to her.

But there wasn't. Because that part of Rey's past had nothing to do with who she was or was going to be, whereas Leia needed to know that that part of her past wouldn't derail everything, that it wouldn't lead to another person going the route Ben had.

"Families are complicated," she said after a moment. "Moreso when all you've known of part of it is bad. What's important is how you move forward from it. I never got to see that part of him that Luke did. Now I have. And that's something I can take with me."

"I'm glad to hear that, at least," Rey said, managing a small smile. "So... we're all okay there?"

"I'm not telling Finn and Poe to put any furniture back, if that's what you're asking," Leia told her.

"Maybe a little," Rey admitted.

[shesroyalty]

Leia reached for her hand to give it a squeeze. "We're okay here," she promised.

"Rey, why do you have so many orange cones?" Poe called from the other room.

"I don't actually know," Rey said, so only Leia could hear. "I just kept getting them."
