A mall on the mainland- Friday late afternoon

Rey at least had been to the mainland a few times, so at least if she, Silver and Jaskier were going to go on a little field trip there was at least someone who knew vaguely what they were doing and could figure the rest out pretty quickly.

That vanished the second they ended up in the mall. Who even knew how or why they thought that was a good idea. It was possible they didn't think it was a good idea and ended up there anyway.

"Why does a building need a map?" Rey asked.

Silver was lucky it was October because he wasn't getting as many weird looks as he could have been getting, dressed like he was.

"It looks easy to get lost." Not that the map helped him any since he had no idea where he wanted to go.

"This is too much for any one place," Rey said, with no idea what the next week had in store for her. "At least there's a directory."

"Do you understand any of it?" he asked. The only store name he understood was Old Navy.

And he'd be staying away from that, thank you.

"Oh, it's just an indoor market place," Jaskier remarked, a little saddened it wasnt more fantastical. But the again he hadn't seen the froyo place yet.

"I recognize the categories. I don't really know what the individual places are," she said, and smiled, "Have any shopping you really need to do?"

"I guess," Rey said. "It's just so..."

"I'm mostly here to observe," he said. "I've never really been off island before."

"What were you expecting?" he asked.

"I promise not all of it is like this," she told him.

"That movie made it seem more interesting." The one with the murderous fence, mind you.

"It's only slightly overwhelming," he said with a smile. "Have you been to a mall before?"

"Yes, that. But with a lot of focus on eyebrows for some reason," she said.

She did not need her eyebrows done, but if she did, there were options!

"I've been to donate furniture and I've been to the zoo," she said. "Both are much, much different."

"Some people aren't as blessed as us in that department."

"We only just got here," Silver said. "Maybe it will surprise you."

It better. Oh, it better. "Perhaps the..." He squinted at the map. "JC Penny's?"

"It's not so bad," he said. "Bright? Yes. Loud? Yes. But not terrible."

They could both buy a pair of sensible slacks!

"These names are so confusing," Silver said. "How are we supposed to know what kind of store it is from a name like that?"

"There's no life to it," Rey said, which is something she hasn't really thought she'd notice about a place. "But at least there is whatever a Sunglass Hut is."

"Blessed with... eyebrows?" Rey asked, amused.

"Good ones," Jaslier corrected kindly.

"It does seem to be an important centerpiece to everything," Silver joked. "And you do have a good point; all the people seem to be a little...dazed."
