thatwaslucky: (upset)
Rey was trying to keep busy. She'd slept terribly, she felt terrible, she probably looked terrible, and she felt like she had to keep going because it was better than wallowing.

She'd been up ridiculously early, went to the warehouse for training, ignored the usual calls from home because she had to handle this one in person, then decided it was better to rip off the band-aid early. So she went across the hall to find the things of hers that she'd managed to leave at Silver's in the last fifteen months, and then had a tiny little personal crisis over what was going to happen to the things he'd left here, and when that might happen. It was all downhill from there.

This led to her spending the afternoon moving a good deal of her own furniture around to take the mermaid furniture back. The style was not Rey's sort of thing at all, but she'd made it, she'd spent just as much time using it as she had her own by now, and she'd rather keep what felt personal and donate the things that didn't. And Force lifting things just meant she was getting practice and hopefully not disturbing neighbors too much, and she was not trying to think about when she did that to get these pieces in there to begin with.

So if you needed Rey, she'd be up here, technically scavenging her now ex-boyfriend's apartment in a sentimental fit.

For as much as Rey had first suggested coming here to get away from the cold, it had been easy to keep busy. There had been training this morning, there was a mission tomorrow, there were friends to see, and there were plenty of little things that had to be done between all of that. And this morning had been a first: she'd met someone who had signed up for his because he'd heard about her. It was very weird, but also felt pretty great.

For the moment though, she was at her little workshop area, perched up on the ledge overlooking everyone moving around below, texting Silver to see if he wanted to keep her company. And checking the weather for the Fandom area on her phone. The humidity here felt even better seeing temperatures.

Rey was a little careful when she talked about Silver to other people, just because he was so private that she felt like if he wanted people to know certain things, he could tell them himself. But as far as she knew, either Leia had been told or she'd figured it out from the things Rey did say, because getting called back for a mission was really more about him than her this time.

It had sounded simple enough. One of the people on the First Order's list of Resistance allies had been lost somewhere in the shuffle and was found captured by a group of Twi'lek space gangsters on Shikaakwa, and they had to negotiate his release. Silver got to do the real work there, while Rey was apparently the muscle, and Finn was there in case anything went wrong (and Rey had some Opinions she would never voice about Leia assigning him to this like that). And sure, there'd been a little bit of a scuffle to even get in, and a shorter scuffle to get back out that had ended in "Actually they're okay to leave," but it worked.

Rey didn't exactly relax until they were in the Falcon and leaving the planet, though, just because she didn't trust anyone onplanet. But once they were in space and Finn was setting a slightly-injured diplomat up in a cabin, Rey finally got to look over from the pilot's seat and say, "I'm impressed."

thatwaslucky: (taking it seriously)
Rey was a pretty open book and would talked about her traumas pretty casually most of the time, but as it turned out having to actually revisit that time was much harder. That was probably why she was really focused on making coffee at the moment, because she wasn't really sure how to just have a normal day today. Coffee at least gave her something to concentrate on and that wasn't that.

One year ago today, Rey made one of her best decisions ever and sent a middle-of-the-night text to the hot pirate across the hall.

So tonight she and Silver were on what was maybe their second official date of their relationship, on the mainland, blending in among the locals in clothes any couple from Earth in 2021 might wear. (Rey had decided jeans weren't her favorite but they did look good.) She'd even made reservations for the first time ever, and after they'd gotten seated at a booth in the corner, she admitted, "This looked different on the website."

She would never say it was tacky. But it was maybe not the ambiance she'd intended for an anniversary.

It was Halloween, or at least Halloween-adjacent, and when your boyfriend ended up loving truly terrible horror movies, sometimes it meant curling up in front of the TV on a mermaid sofa and watching something about a stalker killer tire.

"Someone actually thought this was a good idea," Rey noted, head tilting at the TV.

Rey had said she would go on more missions, and when one happened to coincide with a quiet week in town, of course she had to go.

While it hadn't been easy by any measure, it had been a success. She set the Falcon down in its spot in the clearing that served as a landing area, and let Finn and Poe usher their rescued diplomat off the ship and off to the infirmary area for treatment, while she got everything shut down. Once she did, she stepped down the landing ramp to see if anyone was waiting.

thatwaslucky: (eyes closed)
For a myriad of reasons, Rey had been kind of off the last few weeks. It had kind of been one thing after another, and she'd been trying to feel more balanced.

Which was why since she was up early she was trying to meditate in the middle of the living room floor, even if by that sigh it wasn't going well. It seemed unfair when it was too early in the day to have real problems yet.

[For the boy!]
thatwaslucky: (going through it)
It wasn't that Rey didn't drink, but if she was going to do it it was going to be in moderation and her rule was that she still had to train the next day.

She didn't really count on spending three days as a woo girl with at the very least a constant buzz, and so she was trying to get out of bed today, but the hangover headache was real, and maybe she could just hide in here with a pillow over her head all day? Maybe emerging only to apologize profusely?

At least now she knew she definitely wasn't fictional. That had just been crazy.

thatwaslucky: (having a decent time)
Rey had come home a tiny bit tipsy last night, but had every intention of waking up early to do some training.

Instead she woke up really late for her, and she was taking over the kitchen by pouring a lot of rum into a blender with some other stuff to make some drinks, since when you knew you were a fictional character, that helped you cope until it wasn't a big deal anymore!

She was in a really good mood about it, though, singing that song about the lime and the coconut and occasionally punctuating it with "Woo!"s when she was really feeling it, which was often.

Also her hair was down to her waist now.

Things hadn't exactly gotten easier after the weekend, though Rey at least thought she was doing a decent job faking it, even if she was quieter and prone to jumping for distractions. And today she was sort of sharing that, since Silver had agreed to come watch her train.

Even if with all this new information she felt a little like training was setting herself and everyone else for something terrible down the line, but she hadn't quite gotten around to talking about that internal crisis.

"So," she said, once she'd let them into the warehouse. "What would you like to see me do?"

[For the pirate!]
thatwaslucky: (home sweet home)
Rey had woken up annoyingly early, tried to pretend that she didn't in an attempt to get back to sleep, and finally got up to stop herself from waking Silver, too. So she put on some coffee and took up a spot on the living room sofa with an ancient text to get some reading done.

It was normal if you were her.

[For the boy.]
thatwaslucky: (this is okay)
It had taken a while to get a takeout delivery- since a lot of food had gone bad over two and a half weeks and also who was cooking today- which was kind of fine because it took that long to actually feel clean again. Of course the water was cold because probably half the island was showering at once but whatever, it helped. And Rey also had to return at least one of the many messages she had gotten over the last week from home to make sure they knew she was okay because as it turned out when you disappeared for a week and a half people worried.

So once they were both clean and non-bowling alley food was eaten and calls were made, Rey curled up next to Silver on the sofa, noting, "I missed doing this with you here."

And not in a hole.

[up early for RL. For the bf!]
thatwaslucky: (oh?)
Silver was still a parrot, and while Rey knew full well this was way worse for him, she was really missing her boyfriend by now. And honestly her day to day life was not that exciting, so he got to deal with her training and calls with Finn and then probably a different kind of training and not a ton more.

Which was on her mind as she was sitting in the little reading nook area where she was going through one of the Jedi texts, glancing up at her parrot boyfriend where he was perched.

"Hopefully you're not sick of me yet," she told him.

[For the parrot.]
thatwaslucky: (didn't hate hearing that)
The holosuite room had given them another musical today, and Rey was understandably wary of that at first.

"This one seems… well, not normal," she said, because of all the singing and dancing, and because her player sucked at OMWF, "but better."

Besides, the room gave them massaging recliners so if the movie was terrible at least there were the chairs.

By the time Rey got back to the island, it was too late for the bar. She also could have taken five seconds to drop her bag off at her place, but since that was literally all she would do there, she didn't want to waste her time when she could just go straight across the hall instead.

She wasn't entirely sure what she'd find, whether Silver would be home yet or awake, but she was glad to see him there when she opened the door, greeting him with a, "Hi again."

[For the neighbor boy!]
thatwaslucky: (falcon work)
It had taken way too long for Rey to realize that if she and Silver wanted to go visit Ajan Kloss, they could. Having a centralized base meant there wasn't anything stopping them from going back for a few days just because without anyone calling Rey back specifically to do something.

Which wasn't to say this was a vacation. Rey still had training- and it'd probably been too long since she'd done this with Leia anyway- and if either of them looked idle for too long someone would put them to work doing something or other. But still, it was nice to be on a planet they both liked, among friends, for a bit. Even with the humidity.

She'd gone up to the Falcon to get a little bit of time to herself, fixing up a spot in the corridor that had been damaged by porgs, and then decided she'd actually prefer company. "John?" she called down the landing ramp. "Can you help me with this?"

[For the boy!]

The weekend had been kind of a rough one, and part of the week being spent back home, Rey was glad to have movie night as a sort of palette cleanser. As a bonus, the movie looked really cute.

And sure they had a park bench to sit on this week but look, adorable bear!

[For the movie watchers.]
thatwaslucky: (downward)
Rey was looking a little worse for wear by the time she got back to her apartment, but it wasn't anything serious. She was used to taking care of injuries herself, and aside from the area above her ankle she was favoring thanks to having a rough time with some thorny vines, she wouldn't even call it that.

It didn't look great, though, so she was already in her bathroom to clean herself up before she texted Silver to let him know where she was and that she was okay. And then she ditched her newly tattered pants- which she was telling herself she could replace instead of mending- to hop up onto the counter and start treating the cuts with the medkit next to her.

Just another Friday in Fandom.

[For the bf!]
thatwaslucky: (huh)
Rey had a bad feeling about this. Or rather, she had a bad feeling about her bad feeling, or something? She figured this meant that it was about that time for things to be terrible again, because of course, and the more she tried to figure out why this bothered her the worse she felt.

So that was fun.

At least movie night was just across the hall, somewhere familiar that didn't seem to be out to get them on purpose, and the movie tonight was actually pretty aggressively cheerful.
