Outside the Danger Shop- after classes

Anakin had suggested working up the Danger Shop to show her a Jedi temple, and she showed up so, so excited. She'd spent part of her last weekend exploring an ancient, abandoned temple, but it hasn't occurred to her that she'd never asked about seeing a more current one.

For as intimidating as it was trying to piece all these things together to figure out where the Jedi went from here, it was also kind of fun sometimes.

She showed up on time, ready to check it out. Or a minute or two early. Who was counting?

Anakin poked his head out of the shop and smiled. "I felt you arrive. Are you a little excited, perhaps?"

"Yes," she said. Why deny? "Is it ready?"

"It is," Anakin said with another smile.

It was...odd, for Anakin, to put the entire Temple together from memory. It had brought up a lot of conflicting emotions, but he was shoving them aside in the face of Rey's obvious enthusiasm. "We'll approach from outside."

This was why she loved you, Anakin. Also she didn't know exactly what all had happened there.

She stepped inside, checking, "Coruscant?"

"Coruscant," Anakin confirmed with a smile. "It's busy."

Busy was underselling Coruscant.

She nodded, taking it in. "I've been there once. 'Overstimulating' is a good word for it."

And she'd just gotten back from Jakku then. It was a lot.

"When I moved into the Temple, Qui-Gon made sure it was an interior room where I wouldn't get overwhelmed by everything happening outside," Anakin admitted.

"Did it help?" she asked. "I wasn't very good at shielding yet."

Comparatively.

"It did," Anakin admitted. "The Temple always felt very calm, too."

[thatwaslucky]

"I imagine it would." She could see it, having been in the ancient temple, but she'd been alone. It wouldn't be the same effect. I like that there would be a peaceful place in the middle of everything outside."

You know, probably flying cars crashing out of the sky, etc.

Anakin led her up the stairs. So many stairs. So. Many. Stairs.

"I think I captured that feeling again inside," he said.

You know what Rey was great at by now? Stairs.

"You did a good job," she told him. "I think I was expecting something... older. I might have spent too much time in certain places."

"It doesn't like this now," Anakin admitted. "This is the Temple of my teens and twenties."

It was less fraught that way. He gestured at the enormous statues as they passed them entering into the Temple. "These are the Four Masters," he said. "Two warrior, two sage. We believe that at one point the Order was divided into those who protected and those who devoted themselves to understanding the mysteries of the Force." His lips quirked. "Two very different sorts of Jedi."

Rey approached one of the statues, trying to take in the details. She either hadn't come across this yet or hadn't been able to translate it.

"At one point? So it wasn't like that in your time?"

Anakin shook his head. "It had been here for a thousand generations before I arrived."

He glanced around. "Built to impress, and to last."

"That is something that's impressed me," she said. "For as old as everything is, it's still standing. Nothing on Jakku held up as well. Except the Falcon."

"There were a lot of beings and droids making sure it shone," Anakin said, heading through the doors. "Welcome to the Jedi Temple, Rey."

It was great hearing that.

Rey stepped inside slowly, taking her time to look around. This was one of the most beautiful buildings she'd ever been in, which probably showed on her face. And to think, there'd been enough Jedi to need this much space.

Anakin took a deep breath in, held it, and breathed back out. It wasn't real, this Temple, but he'd gotten it pretty close. "It's 150 stories tall in some areas. In others, like here, they let the ceilings go up for a while."

And there Rey caught something, and she looked back at him, curious. "You know a lot of details."

"It was my home for a long time," Anakin said with a soft smile. "I liked learning about something so much older than I was."

[thatwaslucky]

"I appreciate you sharing it with me," she said.

Anakin's smile didn't wobble at all. "It's your heritage, too."

Rey smiled, pretty sure she was never going to get tired of hearing things like that. "Where to next?"

"That's up to you," Anakin said. "Do you want the library, Padawan training rooms, the hanger, or the Council room?"
