MCA #1- Saturday after everything

It had taken a while to get a takeout delivery- since a lot of food had gone bad over two and a half weeks and also who was cooking today- which was kind of fine because it took that long to actually feel clean again. Of course the water was cold because probably half the island was showering at once but whatever, it helped. And Rey also had to return at least one of the many messages she had gotten over the last week from home to make sure they knew she was okay because as it turned out when you disappeared for a week and a half people worried.

So once they were both clean and non-bowling alley food was eaten and calls were made, Rey curled up next to Silver on the sofa, noting, "I missed doing this with you here."

And not in a hole.

“What, life in the hole wasn’t doing it for you?” he joked.

"Oddly, no," she grinned. "Apparently I've gotten spoiled with things like running water and sofas after Jakku."

“I did miss the sofa,” he said. “I think you and I might have had it a little easier than some since we’ve lived rough before.”

"I think so. It did make it easy to pick up and at least try to help other people, though," she said. "How do you feel now that you're out?"

He shrugged. “I feel like sort of an idiot, but I guess the whole town should feel a little stupid.”

Because raccoons.

"Yeah," she said with a sigh, which had been her response to a lot since yesterday. "I skirted around it today but I don't know how to tell Leia that I was out of contact that long because of a raccoon with a phone."

He laughed lightly. “I kind of want to be present for that call.”

"You can say hello and then watch her expression as she remembers I'm supposed to take down Kylo Ren."

He was tougher than raccoons.

“To be fair to us, it’s not like we could do anything from the hole.” Now falling into the hole in the first place was on them, yes.

"True. Though I ended up in a hole while looking for holes."

While placing an order? Which felt unfair.

“So you brought it on yourself,” he teased. “I suppose the whole thing could have been worse.”

[thatwaslucky]

"It could. We could still be down there," she teased back. "It wasn't that bad, personally."

Other people might differ. Like she'd be checking up on Stark this week.

“We had food and water,” he agreed with a nod. “And when the bar fell down it was almost like a vacation.”

"I did drink more in the hole than I ever do up here," said Rey, who turned 21 in less than a week. "Plus I had you there."

“I think that was the key,” he said. “If you hadn’t been down there I would have definitely lost it.”

"You would have been okay," she told him, leaning in for a kiss.

Maybe she still had some trouble believing that she'd help that much?

He smiled. “I don’t think me being alone was ever an option. I knew you’d find your way down somehow.”

"I wasn't specifically trying to," she said, and had to admit, "At least not once I had Grogu around."

"But before Grogu was around?" he asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"I was at least hoping to end up in one," Rey said. "I figured getting out would be easier than being up here."

She'd been right, actually.

"And then I could make sure you were all right."

"Honestly, the only risk anyone ran down there was maybe dying of boredom," Silver said. "Or alcohol poisoning."

"Thank you for not. But we didn't know that yet," she said, snuggling closer. "I just knew there wasn't immediate danger and that was all."

"A skill I will forever be jealous of, by the way," he said.

"It comes in handy. It kept me from- well, no, it didn't keep me from worrying, and you'd just been a parrot and then you were missing, but... it helped, at least," she said.

"Is it weird I preferred the hole to being a parrot?" he asked, putting his arm around her shoulders.
