Rey didn't expect to feel anything about the ways that Pasaana made her think of Jakku. )

[The longest one of these you're gonna get, I'm sorry to anyone who actually reads these. It's better from here, I swear. NFB, NFI, OOC okay. Taken from The Rise of Skywalker by Rae Carson.]

While the general vibe of the last day on Anoat had been anxiety, today was relief. They'd gotten away safely, no evidence of their months on the planet left for the First Order to discover. Most of the Resistance members were on the other ship, though Chewie, Leia and Rose stayed on the Falcon. Rey had plotted their course through hyperspace and had put the ship on autopilot, and today was kind of a day to just chill out on a space ship.

There were things to do. There was a lounge area with a dejarik table if you wanted to learn a new game, and another with a mostly empty bar and a sound system that Rey had literally never touched. If you felt like geeking out over tech, someone might put you to work. No, you can't fly the ship. Yes, you can sit there. No, seriously, don't touch anything.

[For le Resistance!]
thatwaslucky: (i have a bad feeling about this)
It was a lovely day on this… uh, planet covered in actual trash. Honestly, it wasn't so bad. Sure, you needed a rebreather to go outside due to the toxic air, which was good because it also kept you from smelling all the literal garbage covering the ground's surface. Somewhere under all that trash was also a monstrous pit beast that could eat you whole, but it probably wouldn't make an appearance today. (Probably.)

But for the most part, they had more pressing things to worry about. There was a series of giant interconnected domed tents which served as the Resistance base. There was war room, filled with massive screens and equipment most of you probably didn't know how to work, where the power had largely been cut to most of it to dismantle them for travel. There was storage for things like supplies, food and weaponry. A few people had living quarters here, and there was a decent kitchen for that sort of setup.

And all of that had to be packed up and moved onto either the Falcon of the other transport ship. ASAP. By the few Resistance members working here, and the lovely volunteers from Fandom.

Welcome to the glamorous Resistance!

[For those on the trip!]
thatwaslucky: (talking this through)
The good news was that the Falcon was up and running before they got word that the First Order had landed on Batuu and were looking for members of the Resistance.

There'd been a scramble. They actually did have recruits onplanet that they suddenly had to secretly give direction to in order to get them safely to the base on Pacara, and it'd been decided that Rey should be the one to record that message. She'd argued that for about thirty seconds before getting over herself and doing it. (She hadn't even known there was a base on Pacara. Where was Pacara?) And while Rey really didn't want to leave anyone behind- planets helping the Resistance didn't get off easy- the moment she sensed Kylo Ren there, she knew she was more of a liability than anything.

It was the first time they'd been in the same general space in over a year, and there were all sorts of feelings to be had over that, but she'd severed that connection as soon as it had registered and hoped that was enough.

The Falcon took off and left the planet only getting shot at a few times and without too much trouble otherwise, making a couple jumps just to throw the First Order off their trail if they'd been followed. Once they seemed to be clear, Chewie left the cockpit to join BB-8 check on some things.

"Well," Rey said with a sigh, "hopefully that was a positive trip until that last part."

[For the guy!]
thatwaslucky: (are you insane though)
What was supposed to happen was that they were to take the Falcon to meet up with a spy named Vi and check out the new recruitment base on Batuu and Rey could show Silver the place. It should have been a completely easy, casual trip.

What actually happened was slightly different.

"Let me get this straight," Rey said evenly. "You lent out the Falcon?"

Chewie nodded.

"To someone named Hondo?"

Chewie explained that Hondo was a friend- okay, not a friend, exactly, but he was a smuggler working for the Resistance who needed the ship to hijack a First Order train. As you do. They had to act fast.

"Okay," Rey said, reminding herself that the ship was really mostly Chewie's, but this still posed a big problem, "but when are we getting it back?"

He paused, and told her probably today.

"And the First Order being close enough to hijack their train means that they're close to here."

Well yes, there was that. But he was sure they'd be offworld before that was a problem. And while they were waiting she'd have more time to spend with that guy he wasn't too sure about yet.

Rey was just going to have to remind herself that he'd been doing this far longer than she had, and that he had to know what he was doing.

[NFB! What. It's canon.]

Rey had loved Minfar the last time she'd been here. She had not loved getting to the Zixon city. It was a trek through the jungle, sliding down into dark secret tunnels covered in color-changing bioluminescence, and watching for giant things that thought they were food.

But for as long as it was taking her, Summer, Rose and Chewie to get through it, it had been fairly quiet the whole way. Well, mostly. When they got to what looked like a bottomless pit, Chewie was ready to nope right out.

"It's fine," Rey told him. "There's a bridge, and we're almost there."

She pulled her staff loose so that she could tap the bridge, black rock that matched the walls so that it blended in perfectly, but the sound of metal clanking against rock proved that it was there. "I can even go first."

[For Summer!]

It was going to be a fairly quick trip. Since Rey was refusing to let anyone but herself and Chewie behind the controls of the Falon she got the call earlier in the week to come back for a mission, and since it involved some things that were not strictly legal, she'd asked Duke to come along. It should be in and out, no big deal, back after the weekend.

They'd portaled to the temporary base on the ice planet of Tah'Nuhna and had just enough time to make some introductions before they had to get going. It was a little strange to say hello and goodbye to people in the span of a few minutes, but that seemed to be how life was going out here. And maybe there'd be a little more time later before they had to get back to Fandom. After all, this should be easy enough.

[For the pro.]
thatwaslucky: (everything's okay)
Rey had always hated Parents Weekend. She'd been a universe away, unable to get home, but every year she'd hoped that maybe, just maybe, her family would find her here. It was Fandom, anything was possible.

Of course they never did, and Rey didn't have any hope for that anymore.

But. This year, she had people coming for her. She probably should have waited for them at the mixer with everyone else, but she couldn't wait, and watched till she saw the Falcon flying in that she ran over to meet them there. And the second Finn was down the landing ramp, he was getting the biggest hug.

It'd been weeks.

[Mostly for me, but open ifyouve git a reason to be here!]
