MCA #1- Wednesday evening

For whatever reason, the Skywalker-Solos- including adoptees- had rough Augusts. Rey herself had lost four people in that month a couple years apart. Which was why in talking to Anakin, they'd decided maybe they needed to get people together for some commiseration. Also drinking.

Rey didn't have people over very often but it wasn't like there was a ton of stuff to clean in her stupid-giant apartment. As long as the kitchen worked and there were places to sit (the furniture was mostly mermaid!) it was probably fine.


[For said Skywalker-Solos. Because we have spent a lot, a lot of years being mean.]

Luckily Jaina had one really traumatizing family death in July! Near their birthday! Everything was fine.

"I wasn't sure what would be here so I brought a lot of alcohol," she said, setting it on the counter. "And you can say the Empire paid for it, which I thought would be fitting."

"Jaina!" Ben said with a grin as he came into the apartment. "You made it!"

"I was glad to have a break," she smiled. "Are you still in town?"

"We head back this weekend," Ben said, nodding. "I'm eating all of the non-fermented shark food before we go. Trondheim is kind of like space Norway."

Anakin had made a few calls and so that's why Luke was there for support. "I swiped some of Han's whiskey," he said as he came in. "...this is a lot of mermaid," he added.

"It is. I made it." It involved a lot of diving for pearls! "You probably don't want to see the spare room," Rey said.

"Well now that's you made me wonder, I do," Luke said, grinning.

"You have to promise not to judge," she said, which probably didn't discourage him at all.

"I brought some too," Jaina said, holding up the bottle of whiskey.

"So many Hans in so many galaxies wondering where their stash of Corellian whiskey went," Luke said with a laugh. "I like it." He leaned in for a hug. "It's good to see you!"

Ben arrived carrying snacks. "I bought all the weird dips," he admitted. "I thought we'd need something in our stomachs, too."

He was turning into such a dad.

"Spoilsport," Jaina teased, going to hug him.

"I have a very long space flight with very excitable children coming up," Ben explained. "This is self-care through hummus."

"What dips are weird?" Rey asked curiously.

"Brownie hummus," Ben said proudly, holding it up.

"I've brought nothing because my presence is a gift," Anakin announced teasingly as he arrived.

Jaina, a brat, made a so-so gesture.

Anakin laughed. "For that, I'm drinking the good stuff you brought first."

What was it about that month anyway?

Tahiri's hair was still matted from her flight helmet when she showed up, but she had a heavy looking bag in one hand that clinked when she moved.

"Well, you're definitely a long way from the desert now," she said lightly, with something like approval in her tone.

"TAHIRI!"

Yes, he was a thirty year old married father of three. He just didn't have to act like it all the time.

If he couldn't act like that around his high school ex, when could he?

"Ben!"

Guess who was getting practically pounce-hugged?

"And it's never not going to be a little weird," Rey smiled. "Glad you could make it."

"It's good to have an excuse to get away for a bit," Tahiri answered with an easy smile of her own. Because seriously, people from their galaxy should have regular breaks from it. "Thanks for giving me one. How has everything here been?"

[solo_sword]

"You're here!"

It was almost like Jaina was glad to see her or something.

"I had to be," Tahiri said, the faintest hint of sadness finally showing through her genuine delight at seeing Jaina. "We have the weirdest reunions, but it wouldn't be us if they were normal."
