MCA #1- Wednesday evening

For whatever reason, the Skywalker-Solos- including adoptees- had rough Augusts. Rey herself had lost four people in that month a couple years apart. Which was why in talking to Anakin, they'd decided maybe they needed to get people together for some commiseration. Also drinking.

Rey didn't have people over very often but it wasn't like there was a ton of stuff to clean in her stupid-giant apartment. As long as the kitchen worked and there were places to sit (the furniture was mostly mermaid!) it was probably fine.


[For said Skywalker-Solos. Because we have spent a lot, a lot of years being mean.]

"I don't have a lot of reference for that and I'm all right with that," Jaina said. "I've meant to come back all summer."

"I'm glad you did," Ben said. "Home was busy?"

[solo_sword]

"Hone's always busy," Jaina said with a vague wave of her hand. "Even when it's quiet there's training or politics or family stuff."

Ben grinned. "Sometimes I miss it. But only sometimes."

"It's a different kind of interesting than what you've got now," she said.

"There are far fewer firefights," Ben said. "Ender fights with words instead."

[solo_sword]

"Jag does the same thing and none of us are pleased," Jaina said, frowning.

[momslilassassin]

"Well, it helps that Ender says extremely true things about people who are dead," Ben said, "and then we move."

[solo_sword]

"Okay that is different," she said.

[momslilassassin]

"It's called a Speaking," Ben said. "Like a funeral, but Ender does extensive research on the person and tells their story, good and bad. It's cathartic, but sometimes in the way that lancing a festering wound is."

"I bet. That's why I avoid funerals," she said honestly.

[momslilassassin]

"I go, but I'm watching the crowd as they watch Ender. Just in case."

[solo_sword]

"Do you not do bodyguards?" Jaina asked.

[momslilassassin]

Ben shook his head. "It's not that sort of galaxy."

[solo_sword]

"Yes, but," she said. "That might just be a lifetime of caution speaking."
