Ajan Kloss- Tuesday
After yesterday's successful (if dicey, of course) mission, today was much calmer. It gave Rey enough time to get away for a bit to train with Leia for the first time in far too long. So far, though, it mainly seemed to be Rey telling her about her last few weeks and everything she'd been doing as they set out to some location in the jungle, and then confessing/babbling about why there was a form she was never going to attempt again, convinced that Leia was going to change her mind about training her at all. Which while logistically that was fine, she did the majority of her training in Fandom anyway, it'd also break Rey's heart.
And yet somehow Rey was finishing all that with, "You're not going to say anything?"
"Do you need me to?" Leia asked.
"...Yes," Rey admitted.
"You're really not going to do it again?"
"Absolutely not."
"I believe you," Leia said simply. "The fact that you're worried about this tells me everything I need to know. Did you think I'd be disappointed?"
"Yes," Rey said again.
"I'm not."
That was an immense relief, and when Rey exhaled what felt like a weight off of her, she realized they'd stopped walking.
They were in a small clearing, but as she looked around she'd notice an object here or there, in plain sight, but something you'd likely miss unless you were looking for them. "What is this?"
"It's the training course," Leia explained.
Rey's eyebrows lifted. "You built a training course?"
"Of course not. Luke did."
Rey didn't know what expression made it to her face at that, but it got Leia to smile. "This world was on the shortlist of potential bases back in the Rebellion days. We didn't use it, but our people managed to keep it off the galactic charts so that the Empire never knew it even existed. After the war ended, since we weren't doing anything with it, Luke turned it into a place to train."
Rey glanced over at her. "Did you train here?"
Leia nodded. "Luke, too. He called it Nice Dagobah. Just as green and full of life, but it smelled better."
Rey smiled, a little ruefully. She wished she'd actually been able to get to know Luke better, to find that part of him that was funny. At least when it wasn't at her expense.
"I figured you'd run the course," Leia told her.
"Um," Rey said, not even entirely sure where half of it was. She saw the items- were some of them remotes?- but it was hard to tell where half of it even was. "Can I see the whole thing first?"
"You don't need to do that."
"I really do."
"Why?"
"So I don't die." Rey had seen what Luke did on Ahch-To. The man hung off cliffs to spear giant fish like it was fun. She did not see him going easy on anyone with this, even his sister. Maybe especially his sister.
"You won't die," Leia assured her. "Just trust yourself. And your instincts."
That was easier said than done lately, but if Leia thought she could do this even without knowing half of what she'd be doing, then she didn't want to let her down there, either.
"Yes, Master," she said with a nod, and started off through the course.
