The flight shed- Friday afternoon

Rey had gotten to the warehouse and found a badly spelled sign noting "Do not enter, woodchucks at work."

Considering all that was in there, Rey absolutely entered, and found the woodchucks lounging around on deck chairs under a sun lamp and the palm tree storage lockers.

And you know what, they'd just been talking about doing something different so Rey decided to leave them be and texted Anakin to meet her at the flight shed this week.

Anakin was more than happy to have the combination of flying and a shorter walk from the auditorium today, so he was a little early, even, to meet Rey today.

"Flying!"

See? Eager.

"Almost like you were looking forward to this," Rey grinned.

"Maybe a little," Anakin admitted with a grin in reply. "I can't remember the last time I've gotten to fly."

"Well, next time I have the Falcon here..."

If he didn't disparage it, anyway.

Anakin's face went on a journey, yeah, before he finally arrived at, "That would be really nice, thank you."

"All right. Parents Weekend, then," she said.

"I'm looking forward to it," Anakin said, unlocking the shed controls and step inside. "What would you like to fly today?"

"Can I fly a star fighter?" she asked immediately.

[sith_happened]

"Of course you can," Anakin said, grinning. "Which version?"

[thatwaslucky]

"X-wing."

Didn't even have to think about it.

[sith_happened]

"I'm shocked," Anakin teased. "Not a TIE?"

[thatwaslucky]

"X-wings are cooler." This was a fact.

[sith_happened]

"And they have shielding," Anakin admitted.

[thatwaslucky]

"That too. I have found that to be very useful." What with all the getting shot.

"I made sure mine had shielding," Anakin admitted.

[thatwaslucky]

"But the Empire didn't do that as a whole?" Rey asked.

[sith_happened]

Anakin pressed his lips together. "No," he admitted.

Her follow up question was one she answered herself, that everyone else was probably expendable. No need to get into that.

"I've been in TIEs before," she said easily. "Mostly trying to find parts and rip out their systems, but I'd be lying if I said I never made starfighter noises while pretending I was flying one."

"I did that when I was a youngling, too," Anakin said. "But for podracers."

"Have to make your fun somehow," Rey shrugged.

[sith_happened]

"There wasn't exactly a thriving nightlife," Anakin agreed. "And I was nine."

[thatwaslucky]

"Oh. I was like twelve," Rey admitted.

[sith_happened]

"By then I was flying real ones."

Jedi needed more supervision, let's be real.

"Showing off again?" she said wryly.

[sith_happened]

Anakin grinned. "Always."
