The Millennium Falcon- somewhere in the GFFA
Rey had actually gone on a vacation, and also felt guilty enough to make a trip home to do something useful immediately afterwards. She'd figured out that she could really just point the Falcon in any direction to any planet and find someone or another who wanted the help of a Jedi, so she'd picked up Finn to bring him along. On the way, they could work on training.
It could have been going better. They were both frustrated and it was very clear when he actually got snippy with her, at which point she said, "Hold on. Stop. Let's just... not for a minute."
"I'm not getting this," Finn said from his position sitting across from her on the deck, shrugging.
"No, I'm not explaining it well," she sighed.
"You didn't have any problem picking any of this up," he said.
"I had much different circumstances," Rey pointed out. "I think I borrowed half of the things I learned out of someone else's head, and then I didn't have a choice in how fast I had to figure it out. I think it's different when it's peaceful."
"I would not call things peaceful," he protested.
She nodded, conceding that. If things were entirely peaceful, they wouldn't have to find random planets that needed help. The problem was that he needed Leia, and she couldn't be Leia. But she could handle this the way Leia would.
Rey was quiet for a moment, and said, "When we get there, you're in charge."
He raised his eyebrows. "I'm not the Jedi they'd be happy to see."
"If they know me, and I'm with you, they'll listen. You're a better leader anyway." She was more of a loner there, largely doing her own thing through a war he helped take charge of. He knew it, too. She was just not doing great for his confidence in this area. "Handle it, and I'll help if you need it."
Finn studied her for a moment, and said, "Deal."
"Okay," she said with a little smile. "Let's go again. I'll be better this time."
