On the way to the preserve- Saturday morning

Rey was feeling much more herself today, and honestly couldn't be more relieved about it. Considering how much of her week had been spent hitting things and doing drills, she could have taken today off, but she was also maybe curious if she did remember the forms Kanan had showed her. And maybe she was still confused about his reaction to her yesterday and she wanted to test herself a little without anyone else around, so it was off to the preserve for a while with her staff on her back.

It might also be nice to enjoy some actual quiet after this week.

Once she got to the preserve, there was a little boy standing there, like he was waiting for her.

Just... standing there.

Rey slowed to a stop once she spotted him, and while she wasn't prone to having bad feelings about this, she had a bad feeling about this.

"Hello. Are you lost?"

He frowned a little, and shook his head. "I was waiting for you."

Yep. Definitely a bad feeling about this!

"Waiting for me? Why?" she asked, trying not to show some kid that she was a little creeped out at the moment.

He was young, but very, very good at a "you're an idiot" eyeroll. "That isn't funny, Mother."

Ohhhhh no.

Luckily, while Rey had never been through this particular thing herself before, she'd been here long enough to know how to freak out. At least, not outwardly. So after about a half second of being stunned, she crouched down to be more at eye level with him. "I have to apologize, this town does some.... unexpected things sometimes. So please don't be insulted when I have to ask who you are."

Also, this kid said 'mother' in a really creepy way. Would it be less creepy if he went with 'mom'?

This wasn't funny, and he frowned, but went along with it. "I'm Reyge."

"Reyge?" she repeated. What the hell. She'd be more freaked out if she knew the spelling instead of assuming it was like the normal word.

But, she rallied. "Okay, so I'm sure you know about Fandom, and it's a bit weird, so I'm going to have a lot of questions."

A lot.

Reyge shook his head. "What's Fandom?"

Rey frowned. "I've never talked about Fandom?"

All right, so she got home at some point, right? She didn't understand why she wouldn't talk about a place she'd spent years in.

He was pretty thrown off by all this too, but he answered, "I wasn't with you until recently. You haven't talked about it."

"Where were you before?" she asked.

[rat_in_a_ceyge]

"With my father," Reyge answered.

Anakin had picked the wrong weekend to just come to the island to get paperwork done, huh?

But there he was, on his way to the preserve, like a sucker.

And for some reason, once Reyge sensed someone coming, he was watching for him to show up.

Like a total creeper.

Anakin arched up an eyebrow as he approached. "May I help you?"

[rat_in_a_ceyge]

“Who are you?” Reyge asked, tilting his head at him.

Wasn’t like he’d ever met him.

[sith_happened]

"I'm Anakin Skywalker," Anakin annouced. "I teach here, and I'm a Jedi."

Well, kind of.

The head tilt got a little more pronounced. “I thought you’d be taller.”

[sith_happened]

Anakin's eyes narrowed. "I'm plenty tall."

Yes, Anakin. Take the bait of a child.

“No, you’re supposed to be more menacing,” Reyge said.

"Who told you that?" Anakin demanded, glowering.

[rat_in_a_ceyge]

“My father,” he replied.

And paused. “He’s a big fan.”

Well that's disturbing.

"Huh," Anakin said. "What's your father's name? I have a lot of relatives running around this place from different times--maybe I've met him already."

There was a pause, because Reyge genuinely didn’t know how to answer that.

“Ben Solo,” he said, quietly. He didn’t want Rey to hear. There would just be more questions from someone he would see all weekend.

Parse out that name, Anakin.
