On the way to the preserve- Saturday morning

Rey was feeling much more herself today, and honestly couldn't be more relieved about it. Considering how much of her week had been spent hitting things and doing drills, she could have taken today off, but she was also maybe curious if she did remember the forms Kanan had showed her. And maybe she was still confused about his reaction to her yesterday and she wanted to test herself a little without anyone else around, so it was off to the preserve for a while with her staff on her back.

It might also be nice to enjoy some actual quiet after this week.

His frown deepened, and he didn't say anything.

...Okay, apparently that was his only question. So Rey took a breath, and started over, since there was no chance of her getting back into it in the middle.

And Reyge went back to watching. He was mentally critiquing her form, and she wasn't focusing so she was just a mess.

So after a while he demanded, "I want to try."

And then he remembered, and corrected that to, "Can I try?"

She didn't know what that was about, but it wasn't like she was getting anywhere with her stuff today. "Sure," she said, holding it out for him. It was like twice his size.

Reyge assumed he'd be fine with it. He was good with a weapon already.

He also didn't know what to do with this one, exactly, and using it the way he was used to meant his balance was all wrong, and he couldn't move right, and he probably looked stupid.

So he threw the staff down to the ground and glared at Rey like it was her fault.

"Okay, don't do that," Rey said. Once again, she wasn't sure what had just happened.

"I want a real weapon," Reyge said.

That was like an apology, right?

That was slightly terrifying, is what it was.

"That's all I have," she said. "It's that or nothing."

Not that she wanted him to pick it back up, but she needed to see what his response would be.

He glared at her for a minute, and then remembered that that wasn't going to get him anywhere, so he bent down and picked up the staff, handing it back to her.

He wasn't apologizing, though.

Right.

Rey took it, and said, "How about we do literally anything else for a while?"

This was going to be a long weekend, she knew it now.
