A costume shop on the mainland- Friday evening

Rey realized pretty quickly that she could do without telekinesis just fine, but she'd never realized how much of a connection she felt to other people and their feelings through the Force until she couldn't do it anymore. It was unsettling and she really didn't like it.

So the fact that she had a shopping date lined up tonight (once she was dry again) was lucky timing, because she didn't want to think about it too much. Better to just take her mind off of it with things like costumes, and celebrating a holiday she only halfway understood.

As she picked through the racks looking for things, she realized, "I'm probably only going to know what half of these things are."

"You'll still probably know more than me," Silver said. "I tried using the internet to see what usual costumes were but they were either someone wearing a bedsheet or a half naked women claiming to be a medical professional."

"You might have seen the same site I did," Rey said, amused. "Men seem to fare better, at least. Even if it means wearing something inflatable."

"I did notice that," he said. "Seems rather unfair."

"Thank you for that," Rey said, and teased, "And you saying that would almost make me feel bad about finding cold costumes for you."

Silver sighed. "Well you can't say I didn't try to talk my way out of it."

"It's in the interest of fairness," she told him.

"And I am all about fairness." He pulled out a pink, puffy, glittery fairy princess outfit. "Halloween is all about being scary, correct? This is scary."

"That is... interesting," Rey said, frowning. "It looks like something a five-year-old would be very happy to wear."

"Oh, what, you're not interested in it?" Silver joked. "I think pink would suit you."

"So this is how it's going to be, huh?" Rey asked, smiling.

[long_memory]

"Consider it a friendly threat" he joked, putting the pink monstrosity back. "Just keep it in mind when you choose something for me. I have an entire arsenal here."

"Oh, really? Just keep in mind that this is an option," Rey said, pulling out a sexy lion costume to show him.

Silver burst out laughing. "Well at least it'd be sort of warm."

"There are also less warm choices I can make," she told him.

"Noted," he said, smiling. "You know Jaskier wanted you to dress like a bard."

"Which means...?"

She actually still didn't know that piece of information about Jaskier.

"Professional storyteller, there's singing involved," Silver said. "I think at one point he was trying to write a song about me, a princess and my captain in some sort of torrid love affair."

Of course she'd make friends with a professional storyteller.

"That's some song," she said.

"I feel like he took a lot of artistic liberties," Silver said. "But at the time this was happening I was half naked in a sex store so I could be misremembering."

"I'm sorry, what?"

This was painting a sort of picture here.

"It was when our clothes disappeared," Silver said. "I was encouraged to go to that store by Lucifer and it turns out Jaskier works there."

Well...

"I think he works there, anyway. He could have just been hanging around."

"And he wrote a song about you while half naked," Rey said, smiling.

In a sex shop.

"He must have found it inspiring," Silver said with an exaggerated shrug.

"How much of this is you trying to make me blush again?" Rey asked.

"Only a little bit," he said, chuckling. "Most of it is me trying to give you an accurate re-telling of what happened."
