A costume shop on the mainland- Friday evening

Rey realized pretty quickly that she could do without telekinesis just fine, but she'd never realized how much of a connection she felt to other people and their feelings through the Force until she couldn't do it anymore. It was unsettling and she really didn't like it.

So the fact that she had a shopping date lined up tonight (once she was dry again) was lucky timing, because she didn't want to think about it too much. Better to just take her mind off of it with things like costumes, and celebrating a holiday she only halfway understood.

As she picked through the racks looking for things, she realized, "I'm probably only going to know what half of these things are."

"You'll still probably know more than me," Silver said. "I tried using the internet to see what usual costumes were but they were either someone wearing a bedsheet or a half naked women claiming to be a medical professional."

"You might have seen the same site I did," Rey said, amused. "Men seem to fare better, at least. Even if it means wearing something inflatable."

"I did notice that," he said. "Seems rather unfair."

"Thank you for that," Rey said, and teased, "And you saying that would almost make me feel bad about finding cold costumes for you."

Silver sighed. "Well you can't say I didn't try to talk my way out of it."

"It's in the interest of fairness," she told him.

"And I am all about fairness." He pulled out a pink, puffy, glittery fairy princess outfit. "Halloween is all about being scary, correct? This is scary."

"That is... interesting," Rey said, frowning. "It looks like something a five-year-old would be very happy to wear."

"Oh, what, you're not interested in it?" Silver joked. "I think pink would suit you."

"Well, that is why we have Google," Jaskier said brightly. Because he lived by his smart phone, you see. As all sane people did in this era.

"Has Google given you any interesting ideas?" Rey asked.

"Mostly it suggests that everything be 'sexy'." Which was going to happen regardless. Because him.

"I had noticed that, yes."

Which was part of why Rey was having so many problems!

Maybe they could find her a normal version?

"Well, which one caught your eye?"

"Uh, none of them," Rey said. "I like wearing clothes."

"You could get a robe for over it," he suggested. Like that helped.

"Doesn't that defeat the point?" Rey asked.

"Who's to say it's not? We can just pretend we didn't know the rules of the holiday."

"I did try Google," Silver said. "It led me to strange places."

Jaskier gave him a sympathetic pat on the arm. "Well, we'll do our best to avoid that here."

"I don't know," he said. "A lot of the costumes here barely qualify as clothing."

Jaskier tilted his head at one such costume and frowned. "I think we sell that same thing at Dite's."
