MCA #1- Thursday evening
Rey had come to accept certain things over the past week, like how she was about to lose her apartment to pure chaos and glitter that would apparently be shot out of cannons.
Therefore, today was being set aside to prepare for that. The weapons rack was getting moved into her bedroom. She'd tried her hand at baking cookies- they were actually pretty good but too much work and so the party was getting Tollhouse sugar cookies. She'd unboxed everything that had come in today because she was still getting packages (two boxes of Santa hats was entirely too much), the ridiculous amounts of alcohol had been set out on the bar area, and the decorations she didn't know what to do with had been carefully arranged in the living room for people to do what they would with them.
The door was open, and since she'd spent the day by herself getting things ready, the pushy mistletoe would come as a surprise..
[Expecting a few but open! If you want to come decorate, mod a text!]

...by doing more prep work.
Look, she liked to keep busy and other people were involved here, so it was totally different.
"I'm here!" she sang as she breezed in. "What needs to be done? Put me to wor--"
That was when Summer actually saw all the stuff waiting for them. It was one thing to hear about and talk about this sort of thing, another thing entirely to see it all laid out and waiting.
"Gee," she noted dryly. "You think we'll have enough stuff?"
You could hit her, Rey. That was entirely acceptable.

"People are taking all of this after tomorrow," Rey warned. She had enough stuff from that week with the animals still in the den, she would not keep Christmas there too.
no subject
No, Summer didn't actually believe that. Like, not even a little.
But it was being done out of love!

Because there was a snowman.

Obviously Rey could not be consulted on this, since she did not seem to share their vision.

"I mean," said Summer, with another glance around while finishing up a particular artful twist of lights, "it's a big apartment, sure, but not that big. We kind of have to combine some of it, I think..."
And speaking of their grand vision...
"So where are we setting up the jello table?"
She really needed to make surme that was PERFECT.

Rey was probably going to (rightfully) blame her, might as well get out ahead of it.

Jaskier beamed, bowing with a dramatic flourish. "A very great pleasure to meet you, Annie. I'm Jaskier, your resident troubadour."

It was like some sort of tinseled nightmare. Enough of one that he turned around, went across the hall for a moment and then came back with a bottle of rum for himself. That should help.
"Holy hell."

"Hi!" And okay like now that she was actually looking at this guy and wasn't just, like, staring at his abs from across the room at a Halloween party before issuing a high five, she was a little mortified that she had sent a disembodied leg lamp to Rey's apartment. Oops. "I'm Annie, this is almost all my fault."
He had probably already heard.
no subject
"And Summer's," he said with a smile. "Nice to meet one of the people responsible for all the boxes."

Ahahaha. Summer was, like, 95% sure he was mostly here for Rey's sanity.
Whicj was good, she was definitely going to need all the help she could get.
no subject
Yes. Yes that was a good excuse. And if all else failed, he would say his leg hurt him. He wasn't above that.

"Should I get more lights?" she wondered upon arrival, eyeing the assorted decorations.
No. No, she should not get more lights.

Or they'd trip the breaker, but at least Annie could help if that happened! She would keep this shit illuminated all night on her own if she had to, so help her.
