MCA #1- Friday morning

It'd been a long week. Rey had spent most of it going out and fighting things while freezing, and she'd known today was going to suck, because that was an easy call when things kept getting worse.

However, she didn't expect to wake up with a jolt and the weird feeling like something was wrong, and she might have assumed she'd just had a bad dream until something started banging into the wall. She'd have been a lot more careful about getting up without waking Silver but if he could sleep through that she'd be impressed.

Silver could sleep through quite a lot but the loud banging wasn't one of them. He bolted up in bed, looking bleary and confused. "What's happening?"

"Probably something terrible," Rey said, getting up to put on some clothes really fast. "I hate this week."

Silver was moving out of bed to pull on pants as well. Whatever was happening out there he was sure he wouldn't be of much help but he was going to be clothed while he was being useless.

"It is the worst," he said, grabbing his crutch.

Rey grabbed her lightsaber just in case, and made her way to the door, looking back at him to make sure he was ready before she opened it.

Was there such thing as being ready for anything that's happened this week? Silver gave her a nod, only feeling a little bit awkward about letting her lead the way.

Rey opened the door and stepped into the living area, and stopped when she saw the reindeer that seemed really insistent on getting into the bedroom through the wall.

"...You see this one this time, right?" Rey checked. This wasn't an invisible nightmare horse thing?

"Yeah I very much see that," Silver said in a hushed tone. "...what do we do?"

"I don't know," she said, frowning. "It doesn't feel right."

[long_memory]

"It doesn't look right." Really, a reindeer in any living room didn't look right even if it wasn't trying to headbutt a wall. "I mean it's obviously aggressive."

"Maybe I can calm it down," Rey said, but right then the reindeer turned to look at them like it'd just figured out it was being talked about.

Silver froze, like somehow the reindeer wouldn't be able to see them if they kept still. "I really don't think that's the wisest decision."

"Yeah, don't think that's going to work," Rey said, mainly because she didn't find anything to comment to, and anyway that was when the reindeer charged, snarling.

"Rey--" In the logical part of his mind he knew that Rey could handle herself and he should probably let her do her thing. However logic wasn't really in the forefront when he reached out to try to pull her out of the way.

She was definitely not expecting that, and she kind of stumbled back out of the reindeer's way as it skidded past.

"What was that?" Rey asked him.

"The thing is clearly trying to kill us!" Silver said. "Should we fight or run?"

He had the feeling he knew what her answer would be.

"Fight!" she said, immediately, not even needing to think about it.

Damn it.

"Okay," he said, trying to sound braver than he felt. "Okay, okay..."

Yeah he had no idea what to do against a rampaging reindeer.

If it helped, it was quick.

Because when the reindeer charged again and Rey switched the lightsaber on, she really figured it would be more of a fight because there was something unnatural about it, but when it got close enough to be in range and Rey ran it through, the reindeer just... popped.

Silver blinked. That was...very fast. "What the hell was that?"

"I hate this week," Rey said, keeping her lightsaber ignited as she stepped forward to prod the flat plastic carcass with her bare foot. "It was inflatable?"

Silver sighed, rubbing his forehead. "This entire week is ridiculous."

[thatwaslucky]

"I can only imagine what it looks like outside right now," Rey said, frowning. "Maybe the killer Christmas lights will snag them all into the sharp holly bushes."

She'd actually done really well in not getting banged up this week till there was a stupid holly thing.

"We can only hope," he said, looking down at the deflated reindeer. "You're going to be careful?"

Because he wasn't delusional, he knew she was going to go out there.

"Always," she promised. "This is too dumb to let myself get too hurt."

It also looked like something was maybe occurring to her.

"It would be pretty embarrassing," he agreed. Then he noticed the look on her face. "What's wrong?"

Aside from, you know, everything.

Rey didn't answer at first, but did walk a little bit over to the den, where she'd thrown the inflatable reindeer after she couldn't get rid of it. A few small pieces of the random furniture and things she also threw in here had been knocked over, but the reindeer was gone.

"Oh... that was the reindeer from the party."

[long_memory]

"The ones you gave to pretty much everyone in town." Yeah he could understand why she had that look on her face.

"I gave away four," she said slowly. "Which means I don't know where the other half are."

Well she knew about the one Diego got, but she didn't know him, or where he lived or anything.

"At least pretty much everyone in town can handle themselves?" Silver was one of the few who was a blatant coward.

[thatwaslucky]

"I tried to give them to people with children."

YEAH.

[long_memory]

"Alright that's bad." Look, there was no way around how bad that was and he wasn't going to pretend otherwise.

"At least I know what the rest of my day is going to be."

Fighting things and profuse apologies!

"At least you won't have to worry about me," he said helpfully. "There is no way I'm going out there."

[thatwaslucky]

"That's because you're smarter than me," Rey said honestly.

Look outside, it was a mess, and she was like "let's do this for a fifth day."

"More like you're braver than me." He leaned in to give her a quick kiss. "Be careful."

[thatwaslucky]

"I will," she said, kissing him back. "I'll find you when I'm back."

So he could see how careful she was, and also because she was kind of getting used to unwinding with someone these days.
