MCA #1- Tuesday afternoon

While Rey was definitely not new here, this was the first year she'd really experienced the last week or so this way. Pollen had always been a frustration before, and the kids she'd had had been impossible in ways that meant it was harder to get too attached. It was a little different when there was a possibility, even if Cerra probably wasn't ever happening either, and it was making for a weird Tuesday.

Rey had taken these thoughts, bottled them up, spent twice as long training in a futile effort to make up for last week, and then felt like she got back to her apartment too early. Well, she could always put away the things they'd "cleaned up" by shoving them out of sight when the girls showed up...

"Wow. That last one must have been...interesting." Sure, that was a word for it.

"I still worry about that one sometimes," Rey admitted. "And it was while I was in school, so I hadn't even met him yet. Interesting is... a word for it."

"I don't think that's something you have to worry about now," Silver said.

[thatwaslucky]

"No, that is definitely not happening," Rey said with a little laugh, and paused. "The aftermath of the weekend is stranger when you can't look at the situation and definitively say it'll never happen."

"It is," he agreed. He would have been lying if he said there was absolutely no way Cerra wouldn't happen in the future. Or Jamie, for that matter. He ended up in Fandom randomly, there was no way of knowing whether or not he'd end up back in the 1700's just as quickly.

"At least they were good kids, so it's not like something to dread."

"I would not have expected that from you," Rey admitted.

"Is that a good or a bad thing?" he teased.

[thatwaslucky]

"I don't hate it," she answered, smiling. "Is that weird?"

[long_memory]

"No, I don't think so," he said with a slight smile. "I don't think it's weird if you don't think its weird."

"I don't think it's weird," she decided, smiling. "How was it having Jamie around for you?"

"It was a surprise and not a surprise all at once?" he tried. "I mean, her showing up at all was surprising, but it wasn't surprise that she was a possibility."

"Were you and Madi that serious?" Rey wondered.

[long_memory]

"Things worked a little differently back then. And even then, it worked differently than the rest of the world." It's not like pirates abided by normal courting rituals.

He thought about it for a long moment before responding, "But, yes, I suppose we were that serious. I loved her, and I believe she loved me."

Was that a little weird to hear? Yes and no. It wasn't like she didn't know he had a life before her. "Can I ask why you broke up?"

There was another pause as he thought about how to answer that. "We didn't, really. I ended up here, 300 years into the future."

"Oh." She really hadn't expected that one. "Wow."

[long_memory]

Yeah, probably something he should have brought up before, huh?

"It's not great, I know," he said. "But as time went on, it became increasingly obvious to me that I was not going back there. She most definitely thinks I'm dead by now."

"That had to be terrible for both of you," she said, frowning. "Why do you say it's not great?"

"It doesn't bother you?" he asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"I don't know that that's the right word. I'm a little surprised you didn't say anything." But also not, because he didn't really share when things bothered him. "Did I move too fast with you?"

[long_memory]

"No, of course not," Silver said. "If anything we moved too slow."

"You're sure?"

She didn't know why, but that was what she got stuck on.

"Of course I'm sure," he said, leaning in to give her a quick kiss. "You don't need to doubt that."

[thatwaslucky]

"Good," she said, smiling a little. "I just... I don't know. I don't want to have started something while you were still getting over her."

Which really had more to do with making sure he got that time to do that than anything else.

[long_memory]

"No, there wasn't much to get over. I don't mean that in an uncaring way," he added quickly. "It's just Madi was very self-sufficient. It would have been harder to let her go if I were worried about her wellbeing, but she's someone who doesn't need anybody else's help."

Honestly, she might have been better off without Silver there.
