Rey's warehouse- Tuesday morning

Things hadn't exactly gotten easier after the weekend, though Rey at least thought she was doing a decent job faking it, even if she was quieter and prone to jumping for distractions. And today she was sort of sharing that, since Silver had agreed to come watch her train.

Even if with all this new information she felt a little like training was setting herself and everyone else for something terrible down the line, but she hadn't quite gotten around to talking about that internal crisis.

"So," she said, once she'd let them into the warehouse. "What would you like to see me do?"

"It definitely was odd," Rey allowed. Again, honest, since that had been a lot even before the bomb got dropped.

"I know I have no right to pry." He was the last person who had the right to pry, really. "I just want to make sure you're okay. Or will be okay."

Rey was quiet just long enough to reach the top of the wall, and then said, "Let me come back down there."

"I'm not moving," he assured her.

She dropped down, landing way more lightly than she should have, and once she was down there, she wasn't sure what to say.

"I don't know."

"What happened?" Seemed like a good place to start.

"Nothing happened, exactly. Luke said there was some unfinished business."

Okay, maybe now she was stalling a little. She knew she'd talk about it, she needed to talk about it, but she also didn't want to say it. Ever.

"With your training?" he asked. "Or something else?"

He knew Kylo Ren was some unfinished business, but everybody aware of that whole situation in a galaxy far, far away knew that was unfinished business.

"No," she said, and admitted, "Maybe it was why he didn't want to train me."

Especially when he'd compared her to Ben Solo, whose powers she seemed to have cribbed by accident.

"What do you mean?" he asked, looking more concerned.

Rey reached out to find any squirrels or otherwise that might be here, and nudged.

"Do you know who Emperor Palpatine was?" she asked, and hated saying even that much. Hated it.

"Not exactly, no," he admitted. "Though the word 'emperor' usually doesn't mean good things."

"Not in this case," Rey said, blowing out a breath. "He was in charge of the Empire, which Han and Luke and Leia came up fighting. He had the Jedi murdered, he enslaved entire species, he commissioned a super weapon that destroyed Leia's homeworld... He ruled the galaxy through fear for over twenty years."

"So not a great person," Silver said. "But the Empire is gone now."

See, he knew that much.

"The effects are still there, though. Leia can never go home, it's why Finn was taken to be a stormtrooper and the Jedi still aren't back."

And there were a lot of other things that were going to make her feel guilty that she couldn't even talk about. Which also meant there were so many people she couldn't talk to about this.

"What does it have to do with you?" he asked. He liked Finn and Leia, but they weren't his priority.

Rey opened her mouth, mentally tried to back out, and then decided she'd come this far.

"Luke believes-" She would not say she was. "-I'm Palpatine's granddaughter."

She was never planning on saying it again.

Silver was silent for a moment as he tried to process that. Last he heard nobody who Rey's family were, not even Rey.

"How would he even know that?"

Rey shook her head. "I didn't ask."

"What does that even mean, even if it were true?" he asked. "You can't help who your family is."

"Don't call him that," she said automatically.

"Sorry," he said immediately. "I'm just a little confused. What's it matter?"

"Everyone I love back home had their lives ruined by him. They wouldn't even be able to look at me the same if they knew."

To say nothing of Anakin. He already freaked out when she did something vaguely dark.

"Rey, your friends know you," Silver said. "They wouldn't look at you any differently. You're still the same person."

"What if I'm not?" she said, a little quietly.
