This was really Annie and Summer's party, that just so happened to take place in Rey's stupidly giant apartment. Still, even while she'd been told a lot of people might be coming, Rey was a little concerned no one actually would, and then she'd have to figure out what to do with just... a ridiculous amount of alcohol and so many inflatable reindeer. And packages for this thing had been showing up daily for a week, including as late as this afternoon, and after all of this, people had better show up.

There were so many Christmas lights around the place that the apartment lights weren't even on, Summer's Jello shots were very much on display, and while there was mistletoe hanging from the ceiling, it wouldn't force you to kiss anyone. (No, no, that's the alcohol's job.) It was jolly as hell up in here, and honestly loud enough that even if you decided to skip the party you'd probably have some idea of how it went.

Also Tino showed up like ten minutes early and was just kind of hanging around.

Steve might be the only person who was legitimately thrilled about the jello.

"These look swell!" he said, beaming at her.

Hey, now, Summer herself was feeling pretty thrilled, too. She didn't even need to be drinking (oh, but she definitely still was!); shaves feeling pretty high on just the praise.

Swell was definitely going to be her favorite, though.

"Steeeeeve! Thank you! You have to have some!"

Or all of them! Have all of them, Steeeeeve! You were, after all, mostly to blame for all of this, if you really thought about it!

"I would love to try them all!" Steve said enthusiastically. "Which is your favorite?"

Thankfully, Summer had already been asked that so Steeeeve was spared having to listen to her go through why she loved all her precious jello babies, but if she had to pick just one...

"The candy cane one," she said, picking one up and handing it over with dramatic presentation. "It feels the most quintesentially Christmas for me, right now, so that's the one I feel everyone should have, and the others are just, you know, bonuses."

Steve took the shot and examined it. "It's beautiful," he pronounced, then drank/ate it. "That's got a kick."

He could eat the entire table's worth and not feel it for long, unfortunately.

"Maybe follow it up with the gingerbread man, then," said Summer, pointing out that one and its comimcally disturbingly placed cherry. "Stick with the kick theme."

"Those are really something," Steve admitted, laughing as he ate one.

He didn't turn his cherry stem into a knot because he was a gentleman.

...that would have absolutely had made Summer's night if he had, though.

Woe for gentlemanliness!

"So how have you been, anyway, Steeeeeve? We haven't caught up in a while, it seems."

"I'm well," Steve said. "I'm splitting my time between here and New York at the moment as I train a new team so I'm not around as much as I'd like."

Summer gave a small, sympathetic sort of smile at that. "Well," she said, "I'm glad you could be here for this, at least! What kind of new team?"

"More superheroes," Steve said with a grin, "but ones that don't fly off to space quite as often as our original team."

What the heck, Bruce.

"That sounds like it at least might make them a bit easier to keep track of!" Summer noted cheerfully.

She would definitely be in the flying off to space camp, though, ngl, but that was hardly a surprise when she did that practically every other week...

"We're still working on gelling," Steve said. "Maybe Jello shots would help?"

They absolutely would not, but in a hilarious way.
