This was really Annie and Summer's party, that just so happened to take place in Rey's stupidly giant apartment. Still, even while she'd been told a lot of people might be coming, Rey was a little concerned no one actually would, and then she'd have to figure out what to do with just... a ridiculous amount of alcohol and so many inflatable reindeer. And packages for this thing had been showing up daily for a week, including as late as this afternoon, and after all of this, people had better show up.

There were so many Christmas lights around the place that the apartment lights weren't even on, Summer's Jello shots were very much on display, and while there was mistletoe hanging from the ceiling, it wouldn't force you to kiss anyone. (No, no, that's the alcohol's job.) It was jolly as hell up in here, and honestly loud enough that even if you decided to skip the party you'd probably have some idea of how it went.

Also Tino showed up like ten minutes early and was just kind of hanging around.

"Nah, no one wanted to kiss me then," Annie said easily, tugging him into the pantry and kicking the door shut behind them.

And if she'd been just a little less drunk, maybe she would have noticed that little click as it locked.

"It's a game where you make out in a closet for seven minutes." A complicated premise.

"For seven whole minutes?" Diego said, wrapping his arms around her waist. The cuddliness was jumping out. "Think we can manage it?"

"Maybe. I think we should try," Annie decided, threading her arms up around his neck and playing with his Santa hat a little. She was also feeling fairly affectionate, especially since she knew the whole tinsel-and-hat thing was just for her, awww. "And then we can go upstairs." To surely knock over at least one lamp while trying to navigate her apartment.

"That sounds like a great plan. Should we set a timer or just see where this goes?" he joked.

Well now Annie kind of did want to set a timer, but that actually sounded sort of complicated and difficult and her phone was, like, in her pocket already. "I think we can just guess when seven minutes are up," she decided, leaning in to kiss him.

Good, he had been hoping that would be the answer. He kissed Annie, the alcohol helping him ignore any jingling going on as he did it.

It was safe to say nobody here would actually be mindful of how much time went by.

Seriously, it could be anywhere between two minutes and a half hour. Annie wasn't great at keeping track of time sober.

Or, at least, it would have probably gone on longer if someone hadn't decided to get cute and try to do her little mood-lighting trick. Annie had never actually tried to use her powers while drunk, and it turned out her precision wasn't nearly as good as she usually managed.

So, instead of merely dimming the lights, Annie completely blew out the bulb overhead, plunging them into darkness. "Shit."

Diego smiled like the drunk idiot he was. "Cool!"

"Diego, it's dark." Thanks, Annie, he couldn't tell. "I think I broke Rey's light."

She'd just have to replace tomorrow, because that would be no big deal while hungover and wanting to die.

"I thought it was hot." Of course he did. "Can't you just make it light in here?"

"I'm kind of scared to," Annie admitted. "I didn't mean to do that. I don't wanna blast you by accident."

Or just destroy Rey's pantry.

"Good point," he said, reluctantly letting Annie go so he could open the door and get some light in here.

He gave the handle a few jiggles that amounted to nothing happening. "That's not great."

"You have to turn the knob," Annie told him helpfully, like Diego maybe didn't know how doors work. "What's wrong with it?"

"You locked it." It was her idea to come in here so clearly that meant she locked the door.

"I didn't lock anything," Annie assured him, frowning in the dark. "Just unlock it." Because that was an option he hadn't considered, obviously.

"It's locked on the outside," he said. "Wait, I got this."

And out came a knife! Of course he had a couple under his sweater.

"Are you gonna stab the lock?" Annie asked, leaning in against him, somewhere between interest and concern.

"I believe the correct term is lockpicking." Even though, yeah, essentially he was going to stab the lock. "You are dating a man of many skills."

"I didn't know lockpicking was one of them," Annie admitted, "but that's pretty hot." And now she was actually kind of feeling a little guilty that she wasn't willing to risk blowing the door off for flashlight hands, since it probably wasn't the easiest to lockpick in the dark.

It's okay, she decided to compensate for feeling guilty by pressing a kiss to Diego's cheek, because distracting him while he was trying to pick a lock in the dark was a great idea.

It wasn't exactly helpful, but it was still appreciated. Luckily a pantry door wasn't exactly the hardest thing to pick.

The door popped open after a minute or two and Diego turned back to Annie looking rather proud of himself.

"You did it!" Annie was genuinely so proud of him, and she actually threw her arms up into the air and did a little hop before leaning into kiss him, because yes hello still super drunk and super affectionate. "My hero."

Diego grinned like an idiot because he liked being called a hero, even when the person that said it was drunk. "Now I believe you said something about going upstairs?"

Well, she meant it sincerely, drunk or not, so that had to count for something!

"Uh huh. Upstairs," Annie agreed, and she was definitely going to try to hang onto him as much as she could during that brief journey.

Not for drunk reasons so much as cuddly reasons, but seriously, if they stayed much longer, he was probably going to have to actually carry her out - and that was something Annie would much rather enjoy sober, thank you.
