This was really Annie and Summer's party, that just so happened to take place in Rey's stupidly giant apartment. Still, even while she'd been told a lot of people might be coming, Rey was a little concerned no one actually would, and then she'd have to figure out what to do with just... a ridiculous amount of alcohol and so many inflatable reindeer. And packages for this thing had been showing up daily for a week, including as late as this afternoon, and after all of this, people had better show up.

There were so many Christmas lights around the place that the apartment lights weren't even on, Summer's Jello shots were very much on display, and while there was mistletoe hanging from the ceiling, it wouldn't force you to kiss anyone. (No, no, that's the alcohol's job.) It was jolly as hell up in here, and honestly loud enough that even if you decided to skip the party you'd probably have some idea of how it went.

Also Tino showed up like ten minutes early and was just kind of hanging around.

She was doing great. Annie was only going to last like, twelve seconds max, anyway. This was way, way harder than it looked, because like, a handstand was already hard and then drinking upside-down was almost impossible.

Almost. She was managing it. Though she was also regretting trying to show off and not making Diego hold her legs, after all, because that would probably make it easier.

"Nine... ten..."

Right about now Rey was wondering how you also stopped doing a keg stand.

If you were Annie, by carefully rolling yourself back out of the handstand and popping the hose out of your mouth with a wobbly little flourish.

Was this what all that pageant training had led up to? This moment? Probably.

"I did it!" And now she was going to immediately look kind of nauseous, if also triumphant.

Rey dutifully cheered her friend, while also not exactly having the reflexes to stop the pour before needing to have to clean it up.

"Shots?" Annie asked in an outside voice, because that was a great idea. "To celebrate."

It was going to take her awhile to unpin her skirt from her legs, as it was. Adding shots would help.

"Why not," Rey said, because she hadn't had enough to be drunk, really, but definitely had had enough to think that bad ideas are good ideas. "Jello or other?"

Annie was just going to pour out two shots of tequila, because it was right there. "Other. Cheers!"

"Cheers," Rey said, not even asking what it was before she picked up the shot to clink against hers.

Annie raised her shot in a toast before throwing it back.

And then blinked hard. Still not going to throw up, damn it, but like - wow. "Whoo!" she managed, pumping one fist.

Rey threw the shot back, coughed as it burned its way down, and said, "Oh, we did that wrong."

"Jello next," Annie decided, because at least those tasted good. "You can choose which!"

Obviously they weren't done with shot time.

"The candy cane will get rid of this taste," Rey said immediately.

"Ta da!" Annie proclaimed, setting one candy cane shot before Rey and lifting another in a toast. "Merry Christmas!"

Because they hadn't actually toasted to anything yet.

"Merry very early Christmas," Rey said, taking the candy cane out before finishing it off. "Those are too good."

"I think that's the point," Annie said thoughtfully. "Like, tequila at least tries to, like, warn you with how gross it is."

Philosophical Drunk has entered the chat.

"That's why you need salt and a lemon for that." Rey didn't drink much and still knew how to do a proper tequila shot. "...There might be more alcohol in these than I figured."

"Also the point," Annie told her wisely, despite being the world's worst bartender and extremely new to drinking in these quantities. "That's how my punch is, too. It's sneaky."

Rey paused.

"That would explain some things."

Like how she hadn't been sober since like the first five minutes of the party.

"This is so fun," Annie decided in response to having basically that same realization, and Rey, you were getting a drunk hug now.

"You might be drunk," said Rey, who was hugging her back and laughing, though.
