This was really Annie and Summer's party, that just so happened to take place in Rey's stupidly giant apartment. Still, even while she'd been told a lot of people might be coming, Rey was a little concerned no one actually would, and then she'd have to figure out what to do with just... a ridiculous amount of alcohol and so many inflatable reindeer. And packages for this thing had been showing up daily for a week, including as late as this afternoon, and after all of this, people had better show up.

There were so many Christmas lights around the place that the apartment lights weren't even on, Summer's Jello shots were very much on display, and while there was mistletoe hanging from the ceiling, it wouldn't force you to kiss anyone. (No, no, that's the alcohol's job.) It was jolly as hell up in here, and honestly loud enough that even if you decided to skip the party you'd probably have some idea of how it went.

Also Tino showed up like ten minutes early and was just kind of hanging around.

Well the handwave was odd but the fear of talking to a billionaire playboy who dealt with alien invasions and such was overridden by Jessica's curiousity.

"Are you Tony Stark?" she asked after walking over to the man.

She had to ask. She already ran into one doppelganger since coming to the island.

"And if you are, shouldn't you be off saving the planet from a bunch of Nazi's or something?"

"I am and I do that sometimes too," he replied, nodding along with each point. Because damn right was HYDRA just a terrible Nazi group.

"Huh."

It was less of a 'huh' and more of a grunt as Jessica's mind tried to put this all together in her head."

"So-"

Still calculating.

"Okay. Well. I know who you are. Or at least a version of you," she said with a nod. "Or at least know of you. We've never met. I'm Jessica."

Okay, she's normally not flustered but this was a guy who put a nuclear missile into a giant portal. She's just a PI. It's weird.

"Nice to meet you, Jessica," he said, offering her his hand to shake. "Now we've met."

Honestly, people usually got more like this with Steve in his experience. Unless they were nerds. He had his own little niche subclass of fans.

Well technically, Jessica hadn't Captain America without his mask off yet so...

"Yeah," Jessica said shaking his hand. "Okay. I'm new to the island so this is weird. To me."

She tilted her head in curiousity.

"So how does a billionaire playboy with enough of an arsenal to level a mountain end up on an island like this?"

He looked maybe a little uncomfortable with that assessment of him, but powered on through. "It started out as a vacation, if you'll believe that."

"Came for the beaches, stayed for the endless stairs?" she joked. "I came here on business. Stayed for the quiet."

"It is quieter than home, isn't it?" Well. "In some ways, at least."

"I live in Hell's Kitchen," Jessica said with a smirk. "Anywhere is quieter than Hell's Kitchen."

"Ohhh." Tony tilted his head at her for a moment. "Yeah, I can see that."

He had to wonder if Daredevil existed there yet or even at all. Because the closest he'd found to his own home had been where Kitty was from. Everywhere else seemed... weird.

Jessica tilted her head back at Tony. "Are you from New York?" she asked. Don't ask her why. She was catching a NYC vibe.

"Manhattan. Only left for schooling," he replied with a grin. "Lemme guess, not so where you're from?"

"Nah. You're a West coaster where I'm from," she said almost cheerfully. "But hey, my version of you saved us from a nuclear bomb and a bunch of invading aliens ~~and then went out for shwarma~~ so I'm not holding it against him."

Tony wrinkled his nose at the west coast thing. "Oh, well, barely breaks even, that."

"The people of Harlem and Hell's kitchen think differently," Jessica said with a shrug. "Kind of. Then again there's been a hell of a lot of corruption with the whole rebuilding of the city. Couple of months ago a guy named Fisk got thrown in jail for a whole bunch of corruption and murder charges."

"Good," Tony huffed. "Wilson Fisk is bad news."

Interesting that he knew that name right away, right?

That got a raised eyebrow from Jessica. "Sounds like there's still some common ground between our worlds."

She hesitated a moment before asking this one.

"Ever hear of a guy named Kilgrave?"

It wouldn't be the first she heard of another version of him.

Tony inhaled sharply at that, mouth drawing into a tight light. "Yeah, I know of him. Why?"

Normally small potatoes compared to the cosmic sort of threats he'd dealt with and yet...

Jessica's eyes narrowed slightly at Tony's reaction.

"He's the reason I'm here," she said evaluating Tony's response. "A client of mine was abducted by him. He caused quite a bit of trouble before he was finally dealt with. He was going to try an escape to here before he was caught. I followed up just to make sure nothing was still lurking behind that he might of left."

"Yeah, he does that," Tony said, sipping his far too alcoholic punch. "Dealt with him?"

"Permanently," Jessica replied with a slight edge to her voice. "He's not a problem anymore."
