Rey had said she would go on more missions, and when one happened to coincide with a quiet week in town, of course she had to go.

While it hadn't been easy by any measure, it had been a success. She set the Falcon down in its spot in the clearing that served as a landing area, and let Finn and Poe usher their rescued diplomat off the ship and off to the infirmary area for treatment, while she got everything shut down. Once she did, she stepped down the landing ramp to see if anyone was waiting.

"Probably, though I don't know how soon," she said. "There was a whole talk about me going out more."

"And that's something you want, right?" he asked. He didn't think they'd force Rey to go out there, but he wouldn't be surprised if someone laid a guilt trip.

"Yes," she said immediately. "I want to help. And Poe's right, I can do things others can't."

"That's an understatement," he said with a smile. "It would be a shame to not use all that training you've worked so hard on."

"It does keep me from getting rusty," she said lightly. "What if I'd forgotten how to mind trick a guard?"

She wouldn't. Kinda like riding a bike.

(Not that she'd ever ridden a bike.)

"Did you get to do that this time?" He always thought that was so cool.

"I did," she said. "I don't love it, but I'm very grateful for it."

"You use them very responsibly," he assured her. "I, on the other hand, would not."

"At least you're honest about it."

And it made her very glad he couldn't do it.

"If there's one thing I'm honest about, it's about how dishonest I can be," he joked. "So we should all be very thankful I'm not a Jedi."

"Oh, I am. I'd have to share the attention."

Which is how you knew she was kidding.

"I know how much you'd hate that," he said with a laugh. "You love the spotlight so much."

"It really would be so much easier if I could just flip around in the background and no one paid attention," she conceded.

"I'm sure it would be," he said. "Unfortunately being a symbol requires you to be front and center a lot of the time."

"Unfortunately," she sighed. "I'm not thrilled whenever I show up somewhere and someone I don't know calls me the last hope."

"Oh god, people really do that?" he asked. "That's very dramatic."

And he was called the pirate king, so he knew dramatic titles.

"They do," Rey said. "It's a lot of pressure!"

"That is very strange," he said. "You'd think they would want to encourage there being more than one hope out there. Just to increase the odds."

"Well, if they're only thinking about Jedi, I'm it," she shrugged. "And I'm not even really one yet."

"Is there, like, a test you have to pass or something?" he asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm not sure. There used to be some kind of trials, but I'm not sure yet what all was involved," Rey said. "I suppose that'll be up to Leia or Master Skywalker eventually."

"Trials is an intimidating word," he said. "Couldn't you just take a written exam?"

[thatwaslucky]

"Have you met my teachers?" Rey asked, amused.

Silver smiled. "It's entirely possible the written exam would have been much harder."

"I could pass it," she told him. "But I'd also likely have to show off a lot physically first. And maybe after."
