The Falcon was, in fact, returned the same day, albeit a little worse for wear. Rey had no idea who Hondo had recruited to fly her ship but they had no business in there. There were a lot of repairs that had to be made, both to the hull and the weirdly sparking areas inside, including one that was far too close to a porg nest for her liking.

After spending much longer than she wanted on making sure they were set to fly, Chewie's apology came in the form of finishing up while she and Silver got to actually head out on their own for a while, leaving him and BB-8 behind. And all right, the closest place to eat wasn't actually that far from where they were parked, but that was not the point.

"Sorry about all that," Rey said as they found seats. "I kind of expected that all this would have gone at least a little smoother."

"Honestly by pirate standards this is going great. Nobody's died yet," Silver joked as he sat down. He thought he was doing rather well with the culture shock. He was only doing minimal staring!

"Oh, let's not jinx that," Rey smiled. "I've had a few trips now without any close calls and I'd like to keep that streak."

"As would I." If only because he wasn't great in a fight and would probably be even more useless in a space fight. "And I'm not entirely sure Chewie wouldn't use the fight as an excuse to accidentally throw me overboard."

Look, Silver was intimidated. Though, really, if anyone was going to kill him and make it look like an accident it would be BB-8.

"Chewie wouldn't do that. He likes you," Rey assured him.

Chewie was maybe protective, though?

"I will have to take your word for it," Silver said. "I'm glad he's by your side though. He definitely seems capable."

"Your arms are attached, that's how you know." That was likely not helpful, Rey. "He's a good person to have around. It actually feels a little weird when I have the Falcon and he's not around."

"I felt the same way about the Walrus," Silver said. "It didn't feel right being on it without Flint there."

"Did that happen much?" Rey wondered.

[long_memory]

"Only when he was off doing something extremely stupid." So more often than Silver would like.

"Which probably didn't help it feeling weird when he wasn't there," Rey said.

"Exactly," Silver said. "I have the feeling Chewie has more sense than Flint."

[thatwaslucky]

"Well, he did lend out the ship to a smuggler," Rey pointed out. "But I'm sure he's had things to say about me, too."

"I probably have a lot in common with that smuggler," Silver said. "So I can't really hold it against him."

"I phrased that badly," Rey admitted. "Chewie's a smuggler himself. But neither of you subcontracted out the flying to people who put dents in my ship."

[long_memory]

"The dents can be fixed, right?" he said. "No harm done."

Of course he'd side with the smuggler.

"It can always be fixed, but it's more work for me if we want to leave with a ship that works correctly," she pointed out.

"It is going to work correctly, right?" Because he was still iffy about this whole flying thing.

"It will. Even if we have to jury rig some things," she assured him. "That thing can take a beating."

She loved that ship.

[long_memory]

"It is pretty impressive," Silver admitted. "And I like watching you fly it."

[thatwaslucky]

"You do, huh?" sge asked, smiling.

[long_memory]

"Yeah, I do," Silver said. "You're talented."

[thatwaslucky]

"Thank you." She actually took comments on her flying more to heart than the Jedi stuff. "I don't get to do it nearly enough, but I love it."

"I can tell," Silver said with a smile. "There isn't much opportunity to do it in Fandom, is there? And even if there was we're all horses or cowboys half the time."

"There really isn't. I suppose I could ask to borrow Summer's ship, but it's not the same," Rey said. "And I don't know if we're horses or cowboys half the time..."

Maybe a third.

"We're horses and cowboys more than I'd like." He would prefer it to be zero percent of the time.
