The Millennium Falcon- Saturday

While the general vibe of the last day on Anoat had been anxiety, today was relief. They'd gotten away safely, no evidence of their months on the planet left for the First Order to discover. Most of the Resistance members were on the other ship, though Chewie, Leia and Rose stayed on the Falcon. Rey had plotted their course through hyperspace and had put the ship on autopilot, and today was kind of a day to just chill out on a space ship.

There were things to do. There was a lounge area with a dejarik table if you wanted to learn a new game, and another with a mostly empty bar and a sound system that Rey had literally never touched. If you felt like geeking out over tech, someone might put you to work. No, you can't fly the ship. Yes, you can sit there. No, seriously, don't touch anything.

"Of course," Leia nodded easily. "So tell me about yourself instead."

"Help me out by telling me what bits you actually know." He wasn't about to dive into that question completely blind, no thank you.

That actually told her a lot right there. It wasn't a bad thing.

"This isn't an interrogation," she told him. "Where do you come from? What do you do? What do you tell people when they usually ask this question?"

For something that wasn't an interrogation it sure felt like an interrogation. But then again, Silver thought most introductory questions were meant to trip him up somehow.

"I usually say I'm a bartender," he replied. "And usually I add I'm from the past so things like electricity and space travel are still rather new to me."

"It is still strange to hear about someone being from the past," Leia admitted.

And yet, not the strangest thing she'd heard out of Fandom. By a long shot.

"It's very strange meeting people from the future as well," he said. "But luckily I ended up in a place where people are very patient with me and don't judge when I am in awe of things like air conditioning."

Leia smiled. "Adjusting takes some time. And then we take you to new planets."

"I am not going to an ice planet, just for the record." He was a delicate flower about the cold, Leia.

"That sounds definitive," Leia said, amused.

"I don't like the cold." That was putting it mildly. "Before I was in Fandom I had been in a more tropical climate, mostly at sea."

[shesroyalty]

"Right, that kind of pirate." She knew the space kind, not the sea kind. "The next planet might be more your climate. I've had my fill of ice worlds myself, if I can help it."

"I was supposed to ask you or Chewie about Hoth," he said. "And asking Chewie is out of the question for now."

Oh yeah, like he'd ever learn that language.

"When we're around Threepio, he can translate." Oh Leia, that was just trolling. "Hoth is an ice planet where we had a base years ago, during the Rebellion. We built it in the snow. Freezing, all the time. If you were out at night you probably weren't coming back. It would be your least favorite place."

"That very much sounds like a nightmare as far as I'm concerned," he said. "Honestly if we landed on a planet like that now you would probably have to drag me off the ship."

Leia smiled. "You do what you have to do in a bad situation. Sometimes that means wearing coats indoors. Almost all of the time."

[long_memory]

"And this planet we're going to is decidedly not like that, correct?" Otherwise you might have to drop him off at a local bar or something.

[shesroyalty]

"Not like that at all. It's very warm, we'll be safetly under the cover of trees to keep the sun out-" And out of view from anyone above. "-and large parts of the base will probably be outdoors."

True story: they were going to have to redesign Resistance uniforms to account for the humidity. Seriously.

Yeah Silver thought he could handle humidity alright because of the Bahamas but his hair was in for a world of frizz when they got there.

"And you think this could be a more permanent base?" Because he really didn't like seeing Rey stressed out, even if she did hide it pretty well.

"It should be. The First Order doesn't know the planet even exists, as long as we continue to keep a low profile we can build an offense here," she said. "Are you concerned?"

"Of course I'm concerned," he said. "I wouldn't be a very good boyfriend if I wasn't."

"All right, what's concerning? Maybe I can help," she said.

[long_memory]

"What about a war isn't concerning?" he asked.

[shesroyalty]

"She'll be safe here," Leia promised. "She has a lot of people very invested in making sure of that. Most of all me."

[long_memory]

"I know. I do know that," he said. "It's just I'm not used to--"

You know. Caring.

"This is all new for me."

[shesroyalty]

"It gets easier," Leia said with a soft smile. "And sometimes harder. But I promise to do my best to make sure she stays safe, and to teach her to deal with any surprises."
