Jakku- Saturday
Aug. 25th, 2018 01:29 pm966 days after she left, Rey was back on Jakku.
She'd had no illusions that the first day back would be anything but hard. She came back to Niima Outpost, where she first tried to find out if anyone had come looking for her without trying to answer any questions about where she'd been. She had no luck there, so she'd trudged back towards Hellhound Two with her one suitcase occasionally sticking in the sand behind her, hoping with everything she had in her that the AT-AT was still there and hadn't been claimed by anyone in her absence.
Amazingly, it was, and it hadn't. It was obvious that people had tried, but she'd long ago welded all but one entrance shut to keep others out, and the traps she'd laid around it had done their jobs. There was maybe some damage either from people trying to get in, or just the elements, but it was still intact and functional (for her purposes, at least). She just had to clean everything up, find her speeder- she was sure it hadn't been stolen, but she'd probably have to find or rebuild some of its parts, and then she could get back to work someplace that might be very different from where she'd left. The good thing was that while she was sure she was going to have to give some answers to Unkar Plutt as to what had happened to her, she worked for herself, and she had enough food and supplies now to start with to give herself a few days to get back into it.
So, unpacking and cleaning up it was, and Rey spared a glance at the wall covered with tick marks and tried not to think about how, if she'd been gone for 966 days, she had no idea how many tick marks spanning the previous ten years there were.
[Establishy.]
